I'm no DL65, but in his absence here is a recap of Kill on WCCO. It's not verbatim, but it's close:

Coach Kill on the game...Gotta give the credit to the kids. They didn't give up on themselves. Nobody quit, we've been consistent. Coaching is overrated, you have to have good kids and our kids are playing hard right now.

Coach Kill on looking back at Iowa game...the thing with that game is we had our chances and we didn't take advantage of them. When we looked at film we knew we were getting better. The kids knew we were getting better but we had to clean up mistakes.

Coach Kill on the teams depth...there's no question about our depth is better. Look at the offensive line, a lot of teams go through what we have on the o-line and its a recipe for disaster and our guys stepped up yesterday and Tommy and Foster did a great job. We rep a lot of kids during practice and we feel like everybody needs to be ready and the kids have responded.

Coach Kill on the passing game...you have to give credit to Phillip Nelson who has done a heck of a job and Mitch Leidner. That has a lot to do with the receiving corp. We have a true freshman playing in that group and they are playing at a high level. That will be a big key down the stretch to have a balanced offense.

Coach Kill on freshman impact...we have a great chance to get a lot better. We have a young team on both sides of the ball. We still have a lot of holes to fill, the next recruiting class will be important, that's what I'm doing right now. If we continue to recruit good players that fit in our system in a family atmosphere that is critical.

Coach Kill on on overcoming McDonald and Harbison's absence...in recruiting you have to recruit kids who are going to be competitive and the most competitive kids will end up playing in the long run. I look at Logan Hutton who made some great plays yesterday (on special teams). We have a lot of guys who understand their roles right now. Everyone understands what we expect. We have a week off to heal up and we have two huge games up ahead.

Coach Kill on program development...our kids played very hard last year in that bowl game and when I walked off the field and President Kaler came down to the locker room and he said "coach, the kids played hard" and they felt good about the program direction, and when I walked off the field that was the first time we played physical football. We still have a whole lot more to where we can improve. We have to keep everything in perspective. We can't forget where we came from, gotta take it one day at a time. Just get better be a good teammate.

Coach Kill on Tommy Olson...Tommy has done a great job. It's a special family. You have Tommy and Eddie, getting a chance to play together. Their family is just great people. Kids that really really care and its neat to see. I'm so happy for their family and our football team as he's stepped in and done a great job.

Go Gophers!!

Well done, Bleed. I am really impressed with Coach Kill in the way he keeps all of the attention on the players, the way it should be.

Claeys came on after Kill who was busy recruiting. Again, I'm no DL65, but here are notes, they aren't verbatim, but close:

Claeys on kicking game...there's been no question. If you want to win big ball games, field position goes a long way. The better your defense will be and vice versa. We did a great job of pinning them deep and giving them a long field and giving our offense a shorter field. If you want to win you have to be good in the kicking game.

Claeys on Ryan Sontoso...we've redshirted him. He's got a strong leg and he'll be good in the future. There is an adjustment the first time you leave home. Ryan's a kid that we think will definitely be our punter in the future. Pete's stepped up and done a great job.

Claeys on senior long snapper...I give those guys a hard time that it's all they practice all day long, I joke with him all the time. He works hard. Coach Kill and the philosophy we have is to spend time in the kicking game it will pay off with wins.

Claeys on Indiana's kickoff coverage...It hurt us in that game. We got that corrected and those guys did a great job yesterday. No doubt our special teams have been a big part of our winning streak.

Claeys on team commitment...it's a lot of work to be a student athlete. It's more than a full time job. It's a lot of work to go somewhere and put the time in and not win. This will help with recruiting. It will help us this year, but more so in next year's class as most of those guys haven't made their decisions yet.

Claeys on Tommy Olson...he played really well. With the adjustments we had to make, he did great. David Cobb is hitting the open lines hard. If you keep people out of the backfield, you give the back time to see the holes and get yardage.

Claeys on different offensive playbook...even if the kids weren't ready to open the playbook, we made the decision to open it up. We said we might as well open this up and get our system in and get going. We're spreading the field, and to the kids credit they adjusted and are doing great. We felt like we needed to get back to that and keep teams off balance.

Claeys on 4th down...the offensive staffs strategy is to get 6-8 4th down plays and depending on where we're at, where the defense is. Whether we make it or not we have to move on to the next play. The kids have done a great job with the 6-8 plays.

Claeys on seniors on the offensive line...Eddie Olson, everyone else is not a senior.

Claeys on practice this week...we'll work on the fundamentals this week and on Friday we'll start to look at Wisconsin. On Saturday the kids will have off and will watch games and then we'll really focus on Wisconsin next week.

Claeys on honoring the fans...the band, the crowd, the students did a great job. Our goal is to get it like that every weekend.

Go Gophers!!

Good job and thanks Bleed. Heard it too and have been impressed how "matter-of-fact" Claeys has been when being interviewed.

Thanks for stepping up Bleed to fill in for DL65. Looks like gopherhole is developing some depth on the posting front too.

If Santoso's future is at punter, who is the kicker next year?

If Santoso's future is at punter, who is the kicker next year?

The question was asked in the context of Pete's punting and I think Claeys just built off that. I didn't get the impression that he was only focusing on punting for Ryan's future.

Go Gophers!!

Thanks, Bleed. These interviews add good insight into what has turned this program around. This staff is doing so much so well. It takes time to build a program instead of a quick fix. It is getting done right.

Well stated, CoMn. Bleed is a competitor chasing DL65 for the starting job. Next man up is really important.

I know warm ups are not the same thing as a game but Santoso's got a heck of a leg.

Coach Kill is right, it is all about competition. It makes everybody better. I am not sure though that I like it that Bleed lost his red shirt.
