A pretty terrible set of rankings to me...

2014-

Tyus Jones- (#4 overall)
Rashad Vaughn- (#18 overall)
Reid Travis -(#25 overall)

Nate Mason- 3-star (Grade 77)
Josh Martin- 2-star (Grade 69) *obviously hasn't even been looked at by the ESPN guys

Anas Mahmoud- (#69 overall)
Djuan Piper- 4-star (extrapolated #126 overall)

2015-

Elijah Thomas- (#6 overall)
Jarvis Johnson- not ranked
Alex Illikainen- not ranked

2016-

Amir Coffey (not ranked)

Did ESPN recently update their rankings or are you just giving us an "update" on where all of these players stand? Surprising if this is their updated ranking, since Martin has been blowing up. Either way it doesn't make a difference.

I'm sorry, I know Tyus is from minnesota and all, but Emmanuel Mudiay is the better player, espn has been going down hill with their recruiting services in past few years, are usually bad at updating their info, and don't seem to scout many guys. I like 247 the most followed by rivals, they do much better job, especially since recruiting is all they focus on unlike espn which focuses on all sports

just look at Anas Mahmoud's page http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/190908/anas-osama-mahmoud

they don't even have us listed let alone offered, and 247 says we are the leaders, I don't care for espn when it comes to recruiting anymore, they just don't put the effort the other recruiting services do

Read somewhere Martin is ranked #3 and Piper #10 in Washington.

I agree. ESPN doesn't do well with keeping up their recruiting information, except for select players.

I also agree that Mudiay is a better player.

Yep, it's their updated. ESPN does such a trashy job now that I really only consider Rivals rankings, and 247 to a lesser extent.

I'd also add a couple other guys we've offered for 2015 in Allonzo Trier at #23 and Jalen Adams at #46.

I wanna say Johnson and Illikainen were both in their last rankings in the 40's or 50's.

Tyus led the EYBL in points, steals and assists. he was clearly the best player and it wasn't even close. When was the last time a HS player dominated an AAU circuit leading in 3 major statistical categories like that. He should be #1 based solely on that

Illiakained was 55th the last time i checked but now he is unranked. Jarvis was 55th a while ago before the second update. Sacar Anim is #1 is state now and is a 4 star

How are you confused?

How or why?

He said "Martin has been blowing up" and I think he's making things up. I'm wondering what would cause him to think Martin has been so unbelievable that surely he must be a top 100 recruit in everyone's rankings now.

Never said top 100. Figured he'd at least be a 3-star given the numbers he's been putting up.

His grade or star ranking didn't move. He's putting up 27 ppg, 15 rpg this season and leads the state of Washington in both categories! His ranking seems to indicate the only place he could make an impact is at a school like Savannah State. And that's what has people surprised...

Stars don't matter. They are the only thing that matters. No they don't. Yes they do. NO THEY DON'T! YES THEY DO! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU TOO!

So goes the endless debate on stars.

At the end of the day I don't really care what his star ranking is, I'm confident that he'll be a very good addition for us. I'm just surprised ESPN didn't raise him at all, especially since they drastically downgraded him from 4-star to 2-star at the end of the summer.

Go away. This board is for Gopher fans.

I think Josh Martin called Paul Biancardi a "meany head" over the summer, and from then on out, Biancardi vowed he would never let his ESPN comrades rank him above a two-star ever again. That'll show him, Biancardi thought. Well Josh said, "Lets just wait and see who gets the last laugh Biancardi, Rankin, and Telep. I'll show YOU in college".
*Or so the story supposedly goes

I see. For you, "blowing up" means putting up big numbers and is worthy of a ranking hoist.

You must have been really miffed when Anders Broman wasn't seeing his rankings skyrocket over the last two years.

If he had offers from schools like Pitt and FSU, was a former 4-star recruit on ESPN and 3-star everywhere else, and was a 6'10 athletic PF with perimeter skills, and putting up big numbers including triple doubles, then yeah.

Umm, OK, but since he's not...?

I would say there's only a 2% chance that he wasn't miffed.

Comparing Josh Martin to Anders Broman is the best you can do?

So if when he gets here he makes a major impact, please don't be so silly as to act like you've been "aboard the Josh Martin train" all along. You either support him or you don't. It sure looks like you don't!
