link to espn story below. might this chadima story at wisconsin be the canary in the coal mine regarding the UW athletic department? is the other shoe going to drop on UW regarding this story and what wisconsin officials knew and didn't know about this chadima guy and his advances towards others at UW? and when UW officials knew about it. did they not report stuff they should have?

i mean the guy has been around in the wisconsin athletic department since 1990 and this is "really" the first time he has tried this sick crap? or was it just the first time he has been caught? we shall see.

From a different article:

Rep. Steve Nass, R-Whitewater, said in a statement Monday that he believes it is necessary for UW-Madison to launch an administrative review of the entire athletic department.
"There is growing concern that Chadima's conduct may have been directly or indirectly enabled by the current structure and management environment," Nass said.

Chadima called it - "a lapse in judgement".

You meant the "Canary in the microwave" Right?

Is it still a good time to be a badger??

Yes it is.

And an investigation is being conducted FWIW. In any situation, this will not affect UW athletics in any way in terms of sanctions and the like. This guy touched another guy over the age of 18. There is nothing illegal about his actions. He was immediately forced to resign. Much ado about nothing. This is a non-issue.

Did he think he was a deer?

If the shoe were on the other foot the badger fans would all be shouting for the death penalty.

Because providing alcohol to minors using university funds over several years is a non-issue.

As someone who has lived in Wisconsin for 16 years, let me assure you all that there is nothing legal about sexual assault in this state...regardless of the victim's age.

Your assertion that this will not affect UW Athletics may be correct but to suggest "there is nothing illegal about his actions" is absolutely false. His actions by definition are a sexual assault and his threats to having subordinates fired if they didn't comply should (and has) cause the UW administration to cringe.

To their credit they are reacting appropriately. This is a very serious matter and the consequences will be far-reaching if it is learned his behavior was previously disclosed and not addressed.

You are right, I'm disagreeing that his actions are automatically considered sexual assault. I mean, how does he get the guys belt off before the accuser says "what are you doing?" Not saying the accuser is wrong, but Chadima didn't force the kid to do anything sexually. I mean seriously, if that's sexual assault, then I witness "sexual assault" 30-40 times a night in Dinkytown when I'm out with my friends.

As for underage drinking, who cares? And where does it say university funds were used to fund the party of 15-20 people in his hotel room?

The worst part about this is that he threatened the kid after. What a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#-bag move. Still, he was immediately forced out. The party happened the night before the Rose Bowl and his dismissal was released the day after the Rose Bowl. Pretty hard during that time frame to concoct a massive cover up or whatever.

The only thing that really matters is he was dealt with swiftly. Can't fault the whole athletic administration for that.

"The alcohol, according to the report compiled by an independent review panel, was provided by the UW athletic department from a purchase made with donor funds. It was made available by Chadima at a party he hosted in his suite at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles during UW’s Rose Bowl trip." - Journal Sentinel

Keep spinning.

Wow...I mean. You sure know how to troll like a champ and make sure Badger fans are seen in a good light. It's sexual assault. Sorry, but it is. Your little "Dinkytown" remark is a nice attempt to cover. You could say State Street if you wanted. And it would still be sexual assault. That would be due to the "unwanted" part. It's not a hard concept and Chadima is lucky his accusers don't feel like pressing charges.

The University's own investigation said so. And something tells me the University should care. A UW official used donor money to break the law and open up insurance risks. Nice try though. If it were students providing their own beer then I'd say NBD too.

Not spinning, I honestly didn't know. Still seems to me that Chadima is the only person at fault here. Am I wrong? Do you have any serious theories on what could have possibly happened that would lead to any sort of punishment for UW?

No. I meant Dinkytown. I live in uptown. I see guys put their hands on girls all the time, try and kiss them, dance with them, etc. and have the girl say "gross" or "get off me." Now, those guys are typically drunk assholes, but I would hardly be willing to say they are committing a crime.

And FWIW both of Chadima's victims decided not to press charges.

And as I said, while saying Dinkytown is a nice attempt to point at Minnesota, the same nonsense is easily found in any college town. That was my point.

And yes, if the girls wanted, they could report that as a crime. Grabbing a girls boob or crotch without their permission isn't legal. Would the guy be charged? Prob not, but mostly b/c the girl wouldn't press charges. Doesn't mean by the letter of the law that it's ok.

Same thing with Chadima, by the letter of the law it certainly appears to be sexual assault. Which is why he's lucky the guys he groped aren't pressing charges b/c then he'd be in even bigger s**t then he is now.

Why is his behavior uniquely shocking?

Most Badger fans act exactly like that all the time.

Badger fans who act differently are the exception.

The probability that Badger2010 (et al) are different from Chadima is mathematically very small.

I think you a misunderstanding why I said Dinkytown, I said that because I wanted emphasize that this does happen everywhere. We are in agreement.

As for Chadima, he grabbed a guys junk after he had already got the belt undone. I don't know about you, but if I get a girl's bra off, I would be pretty upset if she said I sexually assaulted her when I subsequently went to boob town. Now if she said stop at any point, I would, and I'd understand, but you have to admit, when a girl lets you take her bra off, I feel like that's consent enough to sample the goods. It's not like when I'm hooking up with a girl I am going to ask her "now that I've taken off your bra, may I please touch your left breast with my hand? May I please motorboat you now?" No.

Not saying the situations are completely the same, but it's not like Chadima walked up to the guy and immediately grabbed his junk...that would be sexual assault, just like grabbing some random girl's breast would be as well. That's not what happened. There was a sequence of events that lead them to that point.

FWIW, Chadima is a POS and we at UW hate him for what he did to the guy afterwards. He's a sh*t stain on our Athletic Department, but this situation is not a big time scandal, it's being dealt with appropriately, and it will not result in punishment for UW unless there is something FAR more troubling going on.

Yea, I don't think the law cares much for how upset you would or would not be in a given situation.

I don't think the law itself is capable of caring, but I understand your point and agree with it. I was more merely pointing out that pretty much everyone could have been accused, correctly, of sexual assault at some point in their life, unless they have been completely celibate. If at any point while being intimate with a girl you did something they didn't approve of, you could be charged with sexual assault. Get a bra off, grab a boob...assault. Kiss a girl, move for bra, sexual assault. Misread a situation, try and kiss a girl, sexual assault.

Just saying.

A good lawyer would have a field day with your defense (At least in Minnesota). Your worst case senario if you were accused would be if the jury was made up of all deer. I suppose you could try to badger them though.
