Update: Highest Graded True Freshman

Perich was a huge get for this program and he's already outperforming the lofty expectations. Awesome to see him getting the recognition he deserves. Now PJ and Dinkytown just have to make sure they get him a good enough NIL package to keep him home. Unlike say, a Payne, who I absolutely understand wanting to get paid now......Perich will make NFL money. He doesn't need to chase paydays right now. But that doesn't mean he'll stick around and play for peanuts either.

I feel confident they will do what is needed to keep Koi happy. Seems like we are doing a pretty solid job competing in the NIL space at least as it pertains to keeping our players.

Koi talks a lot about our track record with safeties and getting them to the NFL. I don't see him leaving but you can never take anything for granted in this day and age of player movement.

I hope he stays and feel that he will but it is a little concerning when looking at the marketplace.

Word is Bryce Underwood, the number 1 recruit in the national is gonna get bought for close to 10 million from either LSU or Michigan. Now Percich wasn’t the number one recruit, but is the highest graded freshman which might be more significant as he has proven himself against college competition. He is a safety and not a QB so let’s say he can command 1/3 or a 1/4 of that. Does MN play in that space?

Unless he transfers (I hope not), we get 2 more years.
I don't think he transfers, but barring injury I do agree we likely only have 2 more years as he would almost certainly declare for the draft early. Selfishly I hope he decides to stay another year and finish his degree (or get a masters if he finishes his undergrad degree in 3 years), but that is pretty rare occurance across the country for players projected to go in the 1st or 2nd rounds of the draft their Junior year.

I could see, if for some reason after his Junior year he is only projected in the 2nd round or lower (I think this is REALLY unlikely, but you never know), him staying another year to cement a 1st round pick but also that's a risk because if he were to get hurt he could cause his draft stock to drop.

Perich definitely has the 'it' factor. It's amazing what he's done as a true freshman.

Because of his rare athletic abilities, it's fun to speculate how Fleck and the coaches might utilize him in the future.

What is his PFF grade nationally against all safeties, not just freshman? Could he be a straight up all-American? I have no idea so just wondering because he’s rated so much higher than any other freshman.

Nothing to base this on except drunken thought, but I see no reason he would leave. I agree they will find a way to make him financially comfortable. But it looks like he's emphatic on the sidelines and that screams team. I would think he stays as long as the money is respectable.
