Could someone who has seen both Garcia, Prior Lake and Ben Carlson, East Ridge a few times, compare and contrast them?
I have only seen a game or too of each online.
Garcia doesnt quite look his listed 6-10, so I imagine they are both in that 6-9 range. Both can get the board and bring the ball up and find open players, drive to the hoop, or hit the 3, which is insane skill for sophmores.
Garcia seemed to be quicker and has more potential on defense to guard a tall perimeter player.
Carlson is rated on 247, I do not see Garcia. Is it about how good each team they are on is?
In a lot of ways they are similar players. They are both tall and have good length and they can shoot the ball. Both Carlson and Garcia have a good stroke and can hit the 3 ball as well. I have never seen them next to eachother, but Garcia seems like he is for sure taller. Garcia may be close to 6'10 but no way Carlson is much taller than 6'8.
As for some differences, I think Garcia is more versitile. He has decent handles and played PG for stretches this year for Prior Lake. I think Garcia is the more skilled player of the two. With that said, I think Carlson might be more athletic in terms of leaping ability. It suprises me how little Garcia dunks the ball, Carlson does that more often. I also think Carlson is further along with his jump shot at this point.
As to the rankings, I think you are right that part of it is exposure. East Ridge has and always will get more exposure than Prior Lake when it comes to H.S hoops with CDH and Woodbury being in that same section and all 3 are typically good. In my opionon, Garcia would be a better fit for us because I think he runs better than Carlson. Carlson has Wisco written all over him in my eyes. I'd be happy to get either.
Not a great reply, I know...but I am no proclaimed scout.
