IMO it has been a bit of a perfect storm for us with our victory this weekend.
Although in most articles the press has thrown in a "give Minnesota credit" line, the vast majority of coverage has been about Michigan's decline, Hoke's future, etc. Almost an afterthought that we came into Ann Arbor and dominated them for about 50 of 60 minutes.
We're headed into a bye week, so no chance for the press to talk us up before another matchup. We fall by the wayside as perhaps the biggest conference game this year happens on Saturday night when Nebraska visits MSU.
Even locally, Bridgewater has a heck of an opening salvo yesterday, driving sports-radio talk and newspaper headlines in the metro for at least the coming week.
And frankly, that's the way I like it. I like the team and fans enjoying this win, definitely think we can savor this one, but also think it will be easier to buckle down and focus in the next two weeks without a media circus following the team, putting perhaps unrealistic expectations on us and taking away the underdog mentality from the outside.
Keep the heads down, get the work done. Can't wait to see them back on the field at TCF on 10/11.
