100% agree. When your program has been one of the worst in the conference for decades, why do people keep thinking we need to hire 'one of us'. If anything, it's the exact reason why it needs to be an outsider.

For football, whether it's PJ, Kill, or Mason, none of these guys had MN ties prior to being hired. Find the right coach who wants to be here and they will recruit good players locally, or nationally, regardless of previous ties.

0-10 is highly likely. They are 0-4. Their next 6 games:

All firing Johnson now does is calm down the people who are afraid a change isn't going to be made after the season. But there is no possible way Coyle won't make a move after this year (if he doesn't do it sooner).

That's a great point, I'm not sure what the best possible outcome is if we fire him now.

Lynch got kicked off and two games later Amir Coffey broke his arm (or some appendage) and was out for the year. That's a stunning blow to take mid year. That team was not deep, but the starting five was one of the best in the country. The replacements for Coffey and Lynch were Michael Hurt and Bakary Konate. Davonte Fitzgerald was around but he was a shadow of himself athletically after returning from an ACL.

I already said why I think it is needed. I think the question is why would you continue this pain now. change the narrative among fans and the media to the future - the less about Ben and this disaster the better. Dave would do a better job. And, it would be great to listen to various outlets and have it be about who the coach will be rather than not even talking about Gopher hoops, or if they are it's about how awful it is.

Ben's protection right now, ironically, is that he has a weak staff with no one who is qualified to step in or ever be a head coach at this level. Again after the 3 seasons Ben has had, Coyle has allowed him to stand pat with his staff.

I will be the first to tell you that over the course of a season free throw % is actually not a very important stat, its more free throw rate thats the key. Well...

We entered 219th in free throw rate

This guy is beyond clueless. And its doing no one any good. I mean that is a flat out insane comment to make after a game like this, with season stats like those.
