UCONN women finish 39-0 with every game a double digit win

It's just not good for the game when one team dominates so completely. Almost from the opening tip of the season there was never any doubt who was going to win it all. Takes all the fun out of it.

@ Rutgers was their closest game,

and even then they led the game end to end. Georgia Tech gave them a scare to start the season and actually had the game tied at half thanks to 66% 3 point shooting.

Also, its the first time in several years that the championship game was NOT sold out, so yes, less interest in a league with no parity.

I don't think it was just UConn being so dominant that lowered attendance, you gotta take the economy's state into account as well. I thought women's basketball had advanced to the point we wouldn't see a team be this ridiculously dominant out there. But credit to UConn, they gelled really well and just took it to any and all challengers.

The bad thing is they could do it all over again next year. Their "sharpshooter" Caroline Doty tore her ACL early in the year. She would've been starting in front of Tiffany Hayes. The only team that challenged them in the tournament was Cal in the Sweet 16 and that was just in the first half.

This is the first time in a while the title game wasn't sold out, but the ACC mens tournament also didn't sell out for the first time in a LONG time. Economic woes....
