Tyler Moore Commits to GOPHERS!!!!

It looks like his QB would be ideal for our offense but apparently he is being recruited as a ILB and has some already impresive offers for being a junior.

Check out the well executed fake out Tyler pulled on some of his Texas buddies with his hat selection yesterday. Couple of them went to throw up a "hook em' horns" sign and when they looked back at Tyler he smiles a devilish grin, points at his hat and says "Gophers!". Well played Tyler, well played. :D

Another brick. Congrats Tyler. We are making hay of the fact that he took us over Texas, but how bizarre is it to think that I could make a fair argument he is more likely to see a conference title with us than with the Longhorns.

"CES helped a lot with my weight loss."

What was he like 350 before? Jeepers. I love this massive OL we are building.

It seemed like our general feeling on our o-line this year was that they were pretty bad at pass protection and were reasonable enough at run block to get Cobb enough room to do what Cobb does. Do we know if Moore is stronger at either pass protection or run blocking?

I'm not a fan of that personally. If a MN kid did that before committing elsewhere most of us wouldn't like it. That said I know the circumstances are different and he doesn't have an immediate UT offer so I doubt Texas fans care that much

I definitely hear what you are saying and mostly agree. That said, I will take "getting one over" (right, wrong or otherwise) on programs with the historic stature of Texas (especially from a Texas kid) any day of the week. Imo, got to take these particular kind of recruiting victories (i.e. over blue blood programs where in the past a kid would have likely taken the Texas offer regardless of circumstance) whenever you can get them. Brick by brick and it will become more the norm than the exception.

What a relief...after only reading the headline I thought the commit was from Mary Tyler Moore...

Go Gophers!!

I disagree. Minnesota produces about 5 D1 football players a year. 1 high school will produce 5 or more D1 football players in Texas.

He weighed 340. Connor Mayes also weighed 350 but lost 40 pounds. Just another instance of how remarkably similar these two are in so many ways.

Agreed. I get that he was probably just trying to razz his buddies a bit, but that kind of thing would be better done in private and not at a press conference. Reminds me of when Cliff Alexander did the same thing to Illinois (although that one probably caused a bit more pain among the spurned fan base)

Either way, very excited to have Moore on board. Seems like a good kid and obviously a great OL recruit!

His teammate and best friend is a 4 star RB committed to Texas. I would bet he's a big reason for the hat trick.

Not really a press conference. Seems he put on the announcement for his teammates and a media member or two happened to show up.

I think he's talking about the hat switch.

I get that. What I'm referring to is because there are so few D1 Minnesota recruits, not landing one of them hurts, and I can see that trick annoying people in Minnesota.

But if you're a Texas fan, he's just one of the 100+ D1 recruits from Texas. From their standpoint it's oh well on to the next one.

Not only is he one of 100+ but they lost some interest in him as well and most fans didn't expect him to go to Texas. Would be very different if they were considered the front runners for his services at the time of his announcement.

Hey, you're starting to sound like a Becky fan does when one they want doesn't sign with them. So you're perspective is that Texas "cooled on him" huh? Ha! ;)

Maybe. In general I think the hat fake move isn't particularly classy. Of course the whole 'announcement' ceremony thing is something I wouldn't want my kid doing anyway

To each is own. Some like it, some don't. Personally, I don't care if a kid does it or doesn't do it. Just thought it was funny how the kid sitting in front of him jumped up when he thought it was Texas and then Moore put on an pointed to his Gopher hat. Again, as I noted earlier a well executed "fake out" on some of his buddies. Good for him. Ski-U-Mah!

Ya, some people on GH get so worked up over nothing.
