Minnesota guy, Carter Coughlin had to convince him but so glad he stayed home and helped lead the Gophers. Nobody else makes that back endzone touchdown catch.#6, #45, # 41, #6, #21 and all you seniors on this team #46, #1 #12, #6 D you guys started the turn and laid a great foundation for years to come. It is now every classes responsibility to Row the boat forward and in true Ski U Mah fashion do better each year. Very happy and proud Gopher today!
 


This was a special day for a great kid. I know he made a lot of money today as I am sure he influence his NFL draft standing in a positive direction

What a game to end his Gopher career with...oh my. What a great thing that our mvp in our biggest win in ages is a Minnesotan. Love that.

Man, final game as a Gopher. Breaks the Gopher TD record in route to a win and an MVP award against Auburn. That first touchdown was unreal. Not to mention that he made a couple of other great catches in the game. Very cool to have him go out on a high note.
 

Tyler Johnson is good at Football. Just Sayin'.

Question for you Stat trackers. Is he the all time Gophers leader in TD receptions, receptions, and career yardage?

Whoever drafts TJ6 will have a built in hype film. No matter what round he goes in, even if it’s a first day pick, all they need to do is show the highlights vs. Auburn, one of the best defenses in the nation, and that fan base will be stoked.
 



His decision to return for this season was a difference maker for this team. Thanks TJ6 !

The only issue I would take with your post is the line in bold as we have 2 other WR on the roster who could make an amazing catch like that in Bateman and Autman-Bell. That statement alone is amazing to think about because the catch by TJ was amazing.

So glad TJ came back for his senior year and it is awesome that he was able to end his Gopher career with an amazing performance in the Outback Bowl.

Excited to see what he is able to do at the next level. Hopefully he will get drafted into a good situation that will enable him to have a lot of success in the NFL. The scary part is he has only been playing WR for a few years so there is a very good chance he still has some room to improve with more experience and coaching.

The only unfortunate thing for Johnson is that Bateman is coming up so close behind him and is likely to rewrite the receiver record books.

Don't disagree that other guys in program eventually could make that catch. Today only Tyler Johnson could have had the hand, body and foot control to pull that particular touchdown paas in. The ball was a touch overthrown. TJ set the standard and raised the bar, it's going to take some work for others to catch up to him at his current level. Look forward to his NFL career just hope it is not with the Pack or the Bears.

Would doubt it as I'd expect Bateman leaves after next season. Bateman would need to throw up about 1500 yards next year. Could he do it? Absolutely. He's going to get double teamed pretty much constantly next year though
 

Just noticed his hustle on the interception. He is the one that took an intelligent angle to the defender running down the sideline and made the tackle. Didn't give up on the play and finished it like a professional.

yup.....that will be an overlooked play but will also be one of the most important plays of the game

...Once they had the running game established, the Gophers were able to work off of it with their play-action and RPO plays. Johnson, half the team’s two-headed monster at wideout with Rashod Bateman, was the principle benefactor with 12 catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns.

“I didn’t really get a chance to cover him that much because he was playing slot a lot, but when I did, shoot, he’s not really—he’s not a fast dude, but he’s very shifty, he got good hands, and we all seen that today,” Igbinoghene said. “He can get open. He’s a good route-runner, good technician. Them type of dudes that do that to us. It just wasn’t our day today, and we’re going to come back for next year.”...

Not sure it saved the touchdown, but sure helped hold them to a field goal.
 

He was Great! Bateman may have equal potential, and Autman-Bell seems good too. Maybe Demetrius Douglas can be too.
 

He sure didnt seem to lack any speed on that 70+ yard TD...
