Two slip away

Heard Marcus Alipate and Miles Barnes committed recently...Alipate to UCLA and Barnes to Air Force Academy

Are they 2011 or 2012 recruits? I know Alipate has a Wofford basketball offer.

It didn't seem like the Gophers had much if any interest in either of these guys. I don't know much about them and I'm sure the U would have been open to a walk on type of thing with either of them, but that didn't work out. I always root for MN kids to do well wherever they go, and these two are no different.

On a side note, the recruiting of Marcus Alipate just seems so odd. I keep hearing that UCLA is interested in him, yet the only offers he has are from Wofford and South Dakota. I'm not saying that I don't buy the UCLA talk, but it just seems weird that none of the MAC schools or even any other non-BCS conference schools are interested and then UCLA is interested (in a state where there has to be 150 guys who are being as recruited as Marcus).

I assume a preferred walk-on. He isn't even in Rival's data base. Barnes has his only school listed as Air Force. Would have liked them as Gophers, but they seem to be following their dreams.
