Of course it doesn't, just bellyachers who like to bellyache34 pages of discussion have deemed the facts relevant.

You falsely tried to pick one season, arbitrarily 2024, so if it was going to be only one season it should be the latest season, which the Vikings objectively were superior. The whole discussion is beyond odd in this pillow fight of determining "superiority between the Lions &; Vikings" especially in the past 10 seasons.
Why would only 2025 count in a 10 season time frame of comparisons instead of last Play-off Win, last advancement to the NFC Divisional Round & last NFC Championship Game, all advantage Lions?
Neither even made the Post-Season in 2025 so they both were Losers. Detroit gets the benefit of playing the NFC North 4th Place schedule. Good one.
What in the world are you talking aboutIndeed, Detroit is, at the very least, every bit as bad as MSP when it comes to markets with all of the main pro franchises and no modern championship appearances.
I would rather the thread die because some local team advances to the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Final but until then, it is what it is.Of course it doesn't, just bellyachers who like to bellyache
Honestly... If they make it and don't win, it'll be even worse.I would rather the thread die because some local team advances to the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Final but until then, it is what it is.
You do .... know that we are currently living in the year 2026 .... right? What in the world are you talking about
Red Wings 1997 1998 2002 2008
Agreed. This is the exact sentiment which validates the entire thread.Honestly... If they make it and don't win, it'll be even worse.
It was not arbitrary. 1 team (Lions) have secured a #1 Seed in the past 10 seasons. That scores well in the more recent "should have"/"could have" credit. You falsely tried to pick one season, arbitrarily 2024, so if it was going to be only one season it should be the latest season, which the Vikings objectively were superior.
Agreed it shouldn't be one season.
Vikings and Lions are tied, both a fully saturated 10+ years of no SB appearance, which is actually the topic of the thread. Feel free to start a thread about total advancements to the Divisional round.
Indeed, Detroit is, at the very least, every bit as bad as MSP when it comes to markets with all of the main pro franchises and no modern championship appearances.
Maybe, even probably, but at least they will have been on that stage and provides another week or two of celebration/anticipation.Honestly... If they make it and don't win, it'll be even worse.
Yes it will be a new thread with the same feeling. We are already Loserville USA until we WIN a title. Period.Maybe, even probably, but at least they will have been on that stage and provides another week or two of celebration/anticipation.
Plus it will be a whole new thread.
3.5 decades of non-championship participation. Uffda. Staggering.
Only for 10 years.Agreed. This is the exact sentiment which validates the entire thread.
"Securing a #1 seed" is an absolutely made up, hand waved thing by you. So what? It has absolutely nothing to do with championship appearance. The Lions did not get a trophy for "winning" the NFC North. There is no such thing. It was not arbitrary. 1 team (Lions) have secured a #1 Seed in the past 10 seasons. That scores well in the more recent "should have"/"could have" credit.
So superior in 2025 the Vikings canned their GM.
You do .... know that we are currently living in the year 2026 .... right?
If my math is correct, the Red Wings haven't made it to the Stanley Cup in the last 18 seasons.
They haven't even qualified for the playoffs in the last ... 10 seasons???
Yikes
It stops being a meaningful distinction after 10 years, though.Maybe, even probably, but at least they will have been on that stage and provides another week or two of celebration/anticipation.
Plus it will be a whole new thread.
3.5 decades of non-championship participation. Uffda. Staggering.
Like your argument. After that, it's bunk.
The whole thing is "absolutely made up". They both suck."Securing a #1 seed" is an absolutely made up, hand waved thing by you. So what? It has absolutely nothing to do with championship appearance. The Lions did not get a trophy for "winning" the NFC North. There is no such thing.

Yeah equal. Co-losers. Any "tie breaking" is completely random jibberish.MSP and Detroit, equally non-championship appearing for 10 years.
Buffalo and San Diego have longer droughts in terms of years. Much longer..Yes it will be a new thread with the same feeling. We are already Loserville USA until we WIN a title. Period.

Here is the massive, foundational problem with this thread and those who support it and think like it:
trying to pretend that a drought of 20 years is 2x worse than a drought of 10 years, and that a drought of 30 years is 3x worse than a drought of 10 years.
FALSE.
Badness saturates at 10 years.
If you haven't been in 10 years .... then that's no less worse than not having gone in 20 or 30 years. There is no "extra" pain once you get past 10.
That's the core fallacy that everyone who gins up this thread is propagating.
Yes it will be a new thread with the same feeling. We are already Loserville USA until we WIN a title. Period.

I'll use that as my coping mechanism.

Comparing mpls to Buffalo. Aww jeez
10 years ago is the opposite of recent.Like your argument.
Fan expectations and disappointments are not categorical nor are they subjected to recent memory alone.
DisagreeNon-sense.
