Twin Cities Bowl Game

So it is settled.

Dairy Queen Blizzard Bowl
Will begin in the same year the Metrodome replacement opens (and is linked by light rail & skyway).
Will be played the Sunday before New Year's Eve.
Will match two 6-6 teams from the Big 12 and the Big 10, with fill ins coming from the MAC, WAC, or Mountain West.
Bowl guests will be able to come to Minnesota, get off the plane, get to downtown hotel, see attractions downtown, attend a Timberwolves game, visit Mall of America, and attend the game without a jacket if they so choose.
Bowl week will feature:
- A concert at the dome
- An outdoor hockey game at TCF between Minnesota and Wisconsin
- Holidazzle Parade
- Mall of America events
- Pro Sporting events at Target Center, Dome, & Xcel
- Various outdoor events including, skiing, snowmobiling, pond hockey, ice fishing, etc.

Motor City Bowl Deal runs out after the 2013 season. We'll be ready.

If it was one of these bowl games that barely pays enough to cover the teams' expenses (if even that much) it would be a pretty undesirable bowl. Pony up more cash, and the bowl moves up in the pecking order.

Instead of visiting kids in the hospital as is usually an activity that players in a bowl game do as part of the "bowl week," players at a Twin City Bowl Game could shovel out driveways, including mine!

With 37 bowl games now, or whatever, a 6-6 Big Ten team is not going to be without a bowl offer. Which is why we would want to cut into the front of the line, not just queue up at the end.

Yes, but the Big Ten could use 1 more tie-in now that there are 12 teams. Yet, since the MotorCity/Pizza bowl rarely lands a Big 10 team, I agree that you want to leap-frog them in the order (or at least become its Western equal).

I'm betting against the Ticket City Bowl. If you can't sell the nostaligia of Fair Park to the people in Dallas why does anyone think that tourists will be compelled to care?

Also now that the Big XII has 10 teams they will never have enough bowl-eligible teams to play in this game anyway. And once the Big Ten has 12 teams, its sixth choice should usually be a bit better than it has been in the past.

I think it would be a GREAT idea, even if it is a lower tier bowl game, who cares?!!?! It's out of state money coming in, like said, with light rail to MOA it there would be a lot of tourist spending money. I have mentioned this to many friends, would like to see a bowl like R & L Carriers in New Orleans come here, with a new local sponser.

This is semi cheezy, but one mentioned calling it the [McDonald's -Ronald McDonald Charity Bowl]

CHANGED MY MIND, YOU HAVE MY UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THIS!

I've never understood why the Metrodome didn't have at least a low-level bowl game. Of course it comes down to money, but it baffles me that some of these other cities have bowl games and our dome never has.

It all comes down to not having a bunch of rich people who wanted to bring a bowl game here.
