Turned away with parking pass?

Yeah I've been at a number of lots and some years there was plenty of space just because of as you say no shows or etc.

The folks at the parking facilities seem a bit shy about laying down the law sometimes.

Some do at times, others less so. Some of the students working there seem especially timid... for a big game parking enforcement needs more than a kid looking for some study time (send them to the st. paul campus).

Confrontation is difficult for a lot of people and let’s face it many young people (or older) aren’t equipped mentally or otherwise. People can only treat you as poorly as you allow them to...

Extend the reasoning to stadium seating/access and how nonsensical it becomes.

Agreed on the sporadic enforcement of the rules. It would be nice to have some standardization of rule enforcement so everyone knows what to expect. I suspect that they were caught by surprise by how well the season went and the increased demand for space as the season went on. There are some adjustments that they can make on the fly, but our parking/tailgating situation is complicated by the Athletic Department/Parking and Transportation Services relationships and the fact that they have to coordinate on policies, procedures, etc. It's probably easier for them to review/revise policies during the off-season and then try to communicate those changes at the start of the next season.

Full parking lots are a good problem to have, let's hope that the management of those lots will improve the experience for everybody.

Agreed.

Some consistency is going to be needed to get everyone working together.

The past "lightly attended" type all rules out the window, combined with heavy attendance rules is a bad mix and will only create hurt feelings.

It's time to set some expectations / good habits for everyone for every game.

Don't count on PTS to make any changes. They're too content to count the money.

There are rules limiting your tailgating to your parking space, plus the area out to the dashed line. For most of the run since the return to campus, at least in my lot, there have been enough no shows and late arrivals that people grabbing an extra space here and there didn't create too much of a problem and I expect that some people came to view that as a right rather than a privilege. Some groups regularly take more spaces than have vehicles (although I suppose that some of them could have parking passes for those spots that they use for tents rather than cars). If a full stadium and full parking lots becomes the new normal, they will have to get better at enforcing the rules.

I asked someone from the U and he said that none of the tailgating lots are sold to capacity and that this season the U increased the percentage of passes sold per lot.

Yeah a while back I got in a game of "call that other guy" between the parking folks and the athletic department where they both were sure the sky wasn't blue but couldn't decide what color and that the other guy had to fix it.

It was hardly the end of the world and I got them synced up after a while, but yeah they didn't jive at times / make sense... either of them.

Slab I hope you got a refund. That is fraud to take your money and then deny you what you purchased.

That is fraudulent. I hope you demand and get a refund.

Completely agree. They shouldn't be able to do that. I know that against Maryland.....the Oak Street Ramp was PACKED. We ended up parking in what was not even a spot.

That's an unexpected game to have that happen.

Yeah....but that ramp is always pretty full. My guess is that there was an event at one of the other buildings. Maybe the new hospital right next door.
