Field is going in. This photo was linked to on the other site, not sure who took it.

Good....it isn't the awful Oregon turf. I like the maroon endzone. nm

Is the endzone going to remain all maroon like that or are they going to put gold lettering over it? that could be a pretty unique feature to have the endzones be one solid color with no lettering.

I've heard that when they do lettering that isn't paint (ie different colored fieldturf) they have to cut out and stitch in the second color, so they lay down the background and then cut out the space for the color. I could be wrong however.

Wow. Look at the shadow cast over the home section seats. Come Sept/Oct/Nov the sun will be further south. Would there be any sunshine on the home side?

Do you meaning alternating 5-yard panels of a lighter and darker green? Just wait until you see what Iowa installed this year.
Actually, there's looks very similar to ours...

Huh, interesting. I had read Iowa fans arguing and complaining about the alternating panels. I guess they may have just been speculating that it would be alternating.

That is a pretty cool looking pic.

that's my new desktop background.....until a better pic comes along.

From my source at the U, there will be a large M in the middle. "MINNESOTA" in gold with maroon backgrounds will be in both end zones. Nothing too groundbreaking there, but that's the word I got.

Hah, yeah my background is from when they first turned on the lights. Things are looking great! Its hard to believe how close we are to opening kickoff. If you look hard enough you can almost see Decker hauling in a touchdown...

It's a bit surprising. I thought they would have MINNESOTA and GOLDEN GOPHERS in the other. MINNESOTA in both works for me.

How Far Above Field is First Row?

It looks a little higher (maybe 7 feet or so) that I thought it would be. Good news for those in lower rows like myself.

Per the FAQ the U sent out:
The front row of the lower level is four feet above field level, similar to the Metrodome. The row is 15 feet closer to the sideline than the Metrodome.

Wow- it looks like the fans will be on top of the visiitng bench!

Endzone looks very close to the wall. Going to be some smash-ups.

I hope they keep the endzones maroon that looks really cool.

Dear God! Why is it that some people always have to find something to worry/complain about?!?!

I am sure the homefield side will be just fine. Now just enjoy the new turf going in like the rest of us! ;)

Field substantially complete

Tuesday, May 26th.

I snapped this pic from the top of the parking ramp next to McNamara. Looks like they have the playing surface (endzone to endzone, sideline to sideline) done. They still have some work to do between the wall and the sidelines.

Pic attached.

That wasn't a complaint. It was a "wow". Just like I stated.

I thought the lower sections of the home side would feel the sun. After seeing that photo, taken in May, it doesn't seem like they will.

I have tickets in the upper deck home side. So I know what I'm in for.
