Tubby to be inducted into UK Hall of Fame

This thread has turned into a Tubby/Texas Tech thread, as opposed to a Tubby/UK HOF thread as it was originally intended. Any additional Tubby/Texas Tech analysis will be removed from this thread. Thank you.

Thank you.

I was hesitant to post it in fear of what the thread might become. Unfortunately, the thread morphed into exactly what I feared it would.

SS, I love you man, easily my favorite poster on this site. But, c'mon...who exactly is to blame for this "morphing"....you were the first guy to post something other than Hall of Fame info in this thread. Where exactly did you think this post would take us?:

I'd say if Tubby avoids 20 losses he will have done yeoman's work in his first year in Lubbock. Tech has 31 games, and Tubby didn't exactly give himself an easy nonconference slate in his first season. ... @ Alabama, @ Arizona, @ Arizona State, LSU at home, Pitt on a neutral court, and perhaps Stanford on a neutral court. If he can go 8-5 in November/December and follow it up with 5 or 6 Big XII wins, that'd be a pretty solid season for Tech, in the neighborhood of 14-17 or 13-18. Not easy, but attainable. Based on what he did here in his first season, I wouldn't bet against him.

Just busting your chops a little. Obviously, I've contributed to the "morphing" as well and for that I apologize.

I've always thoughtly highly of Tubby and what he stands for, but I have a feeling that GW is correct about this. I think it could get ugly for Tubby in Lubbock. I do hope he does well there, but like GW, for various reasons I don't think it will be pretty.

+1

If Tubby had simply retired after his run at Kentucky and gone into broadcasting or something, he'd probably be remembered as one of the great college coaches of our era.

His work at Minnesota though, especially the latter years, took some of the luster off, and if I had to predict, I'd say the Texas Tech job is not going to help his legacy. He had "it" at one point in time but seems to be operating in cruise control for quite some time now, and that's not the kind of approach that's going to turn around a program like TT.

The Kentucky HOF honor is certainly deserved though. Great record there.

No offense taken, TJ.

I initially made that post (about Tubby's chances of avoiding 20 losses in year 1 @ TT) in another thread, but I transferred it here because a couple previous posts in that thread were removed by the admins because it was moving off the thread topic.
