University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Tubby Smith has announced plans for the inaugural Tubby Smith Foundation Golf Classic. The Golf Classic, which will serve as the official launching of the Tubby Smith Foundation in Minnesota, is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at the newly designed Edina Country Club. A dinner and live auction, also at Edina CC, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5:00 p.m.

The 2011 Tubby Smith Foundation Golf Classic proceeds will help support charities in Minnesota that benefit underprivileged children on an as-needed basis.

The Tubby Smith Foundation’s mission is to be a resource for children and charities that benefit children in the State of Minnesota, who demonstrate a need for financial assistance to improve their physical, mental, educational or overall wellbeing.
