Tubby postgame - was 10 minutes late, says we don't have senior leadership

I hope Tubby lit a fire under Rodney's ass because he needs it. His play this last stretch has just been simply inexcusable.

I don't think this is when you scream at guys. This bunch is already beaten. I think this is when you appeal to their sense of pride and ask them to reach down inside for something more. You have to find a way to make them produce the effort and begin to believe in themselves again. I don't think a tongue lashing works here.

if our senior leaders could take care of the substitution patterns we might be onto something- instead it looks like we are coached by someone with senioritis or one that definitely has senior moments. It would be nice to see Amelia's player efficiency breakdown for the last couple of games. Before I had to quit watching last night for my mental wellness, I saw combinations of players on the floor that did not give any player a chance to succeed. Mo, Andre Ingram and Oto are not going to help Andre and Austin look good and vice-versa, Andre and Austin are not good enough to make the other 3 look competent. It got so bad last night that I was actually wishing Julian would take a shot because he was the best option on the floor.

I was picturing Tubby's press conference silver lining comment to be " Well, it gave us a good opportunity to get Wally some minutes in a hostile environment and a tough road game"

From a motivation standpoint I am sure the coaches have tried everything at this point. As much as I agree it is probably time for a coaching change in the off seaon for the remainder of this season it is up to the players to make it happen.

The coach is who he is, the personel is what it is....as a team they know they can win when they play together and play smart, it is up to them now to get back to what was working early in the year and try to slavage what they can.

Funny how a couple years ago I was in the boat of those that couldn't understand why Kentucky would run him out of town and I thought there was no way he would not be successful here. Now here we sit probably having the same discussions they did in Kentucky and saying it is time for Tubby to go because he can't recruit even though the team seems to win 20 year in and year out.

I just don't understand how players are so unconfident. On all the shot clock violations players were passing up shots for some reason

I was going to bring that up. I heard Tollackson ranting about that on the post-game radio broadcast. Players passing up good looks for what turned out to be inferior shots later in the shot clock. Is is lack of confidence, or are they afraid to shoot for other reasons? Was the game plan to milk the clock and shorten the game?

When you look at the histories of Trevor and Rodney, do you really expect leadership?

Ohio St. has one 5 star recruit on the team. Their 2nd and 3rd best players were rated no better than Andre Hollins and Joe Coleman were out of High School. I don't think the talent difference is that much. More than anything, we're missing leaders. Ohio St. has two in Thomas and Craft.

Thomas 5 star
Scott, Williams, Thompson, Ross all 4 star top 100 players. Agree Craft was not a huge "get" out of HS but is better than any guard the Gophers have. I would say OSU has more than a slight talent advantage over the Gophers, IMO...

As an overall PG, I consider Craft as the 2nd best overall PG in the B1G. He isn't a great offensive threat but his on-the-ball defense is as good as it gets. Hence, Dre's numbers last night. Craft also did a great job against Burke earlier in the year. Craft also manages the game in exudes confidence on the floor. If the Gophers had a PG even close the caliber of Craft, this team would be vastly improved. I love watching Craft play defense.

I think it's hard for anyone to want to take a leadership role when they are constantly thrown under the bus by their coach after every loss. Not only do I think that relates to in the locker room, but now it's showing out on the court with players passing up shots. They don't want to be the guy the their coach blames in the post-game interview. Tubby takes minimal ownership of the problems, and even when he does, he has no solutions. I was listening to Dubay on 1500 today and he said it best: Tubby is the doctor that will run all the tests and tell you what's wrong, but then doesn't have a clue how to make you better. He has stopped coaching and has the look on the sideline that he's just counting the days until he can cash that buyout check.
