Grad transfers maybe. If we learned anything the last two years, it’s that having bodies is better than not having them.My prediction is that they won't all go used. That's just too many, it seems to me.
Yes, he was a backup type center on Loyola. I think he would be good enough in that role here. Unfortunately, he's not a very good free throw shooter.
Who's next?
There are plenty of other possible transfers. We just haven’t heard any scuttle about them. Cooper is expected. Any more and the ship is sinking.Only other possible transfer is Cooper's decision. But that has been rumored for two weeks now.
Geez. the vast majority of people on this board have been ragging on TT for two years - saying he doesn't belong on a P5 roster.
and now he announces he's leaving, and people are acting like it's a loss for the program.
I would say the odds are quite high that whoever Johnson finds in the portal will contribute more to the team than TT did. Heck, it would be hard to contribute less.
Danny Ogele and Charlie Daniels say hi

LOLIn the past, it appears that Ben has recruited half heartedly when he got past 7-8 solid guys, because he was concerned about playing time.

As I recall, Daniels played decent defense.Well, hopefully, the coach learned from that experience. I also think that Charlie Daniels, as limited as he was, did offer more in his one year than Thompson did this season. As far as Ogele, well, the less said the better.
I’m not one to growl about coaching decisions about who plays and doesn’t. But the abject failure to provide any resistance to Wisconsin inside play was mind boggling. At a minimum, Treyton could have given five fouls and made those guys who are not good free throw shooters go to the line.My guess is that for whatever reason, not playing at all the last few games sealed the deal for TT. Thought he might have been able to help out a bit in the Wisconsin game when we were getting beat so bad inside. Surprised Ben didn't give it a try as Wisconsin was scoring at will in the paint. Trying to jog my memory a bit but didn't he start and play a whole game which we won last year, and didn't he actually play pretty well? Hate to see him go and blossom for some other team.
That was the moment I knew that Ben was running TT out. TT could have helped there and that's coming from a poster who sees TT as a pretty low ceiling D1 player.I’m not one to growl about coaching decisions about who plays and doesn’t. He didn't fiddle around on defense. As I recall, Daniels played decent defense.
Running guys who want to be here out is a bad look. That was the moment I knew that Ben was running TT out. TT could have helped there and that's coming from a poster who sees TT as a pretty low ceiling D1 player.
It's hard to say what was going on behind the scenes. Perhaps TT had a different view of what he should be doing on the court than Ben did? Maybe he didn't take instruction too well? I'm not sure but once Evans decommitted I thought that Ben might take a long look at TT and he still buried him.Running guys who want to be here out is a bad look.

That sounds like being run off to me. It happens but I don’t like it. Ben knows more than I do but this looks like blinders to me. In a lost season Treyton should have been given a complete chance to sink or swim. Doesn’t appear he was given that.Ben should have played TT a lot at the end of last year to get an idea of what he had. Instead, he sat him almost every minute of every meaningless game and then for some reason counted on him to contribute this year. TT started the first 7 games this year, then disappeared again. He averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds per 40 minutes.
Ben would let the freshmen mess up all the time with no consequence, but the second TT made an error, he was done for the night, benched and that was it. TT should 100% transfer.
Gives minutes to Henley who couldn't care less about being here, benches TT who's dream it was to play for the Gophers. It's not Ben's job to care about TT's dream don't get me wrong, but what is he doing? He can't keep players he wants, and runs off players that want to be here. TT not helping us win a conference title, but he's better than what Ben has produced previously in the portal. It's hard to say what was going on behind the scenes. TT is certainly a better player than Samuels. And Charlie Daniels. And Danny Ogele. And the shooting guard from last year who's name I can't even remember. So there's a at least a 50/50 shot he'll be replaced by an inferior player.Gives minutes to Henley who couldn't care less about being here, benches TT who's dream it was to play for the Gophers. Great story...and he ended up playing in the pros! That sounds like being run off to me. It happens but I don’t like it. Ben knows more than I do but this looks like blinders to me. In a lost season Treyton should have been given a complete chance to sink or swim. Doesn’t appear he was given that.
Tangentially Damian Johnson tells his story that Tubby believed he was not a college player and wanted him gone. But he was given the chance to prove him and did.
Ben did everything short of writing a position paper to let TT know he was not going to play here. The program depended on TT? I was bummed about Henley. This one builds a little confidence for me. I would be worried if Ben had changed his mind and begged TT to stay.
I think after watching him in practice and some in games for two years Ben had a pretty good idea of what he had. We dont Know when Thompson or Henley communicated to the coaching staff that they intended to transfer. That may have played a role in Thompson use late in the year.Ben should have played TT a lot at the end of last year to get an idea of what he had. Count on him playing well elsewhere. My guess is that for whatever reason, not playing at all the last few games sealed the deal for TT.
