According to something called the Lake County Sentinel, he's meeting with school officials about the job this week.

The guy just doesn't want to let it go. Wouldn't that be humiliating for him if he is coaching Akron the next time they play the Bucks at the shoe?

If this is true and the NCAA isnt going to give him any penalties, schools like Illinois and UCLA should consider.

I know that there is interest from Akron but I'm not so sure about Tressel. I do know he's an Ohio guy and was content at Youngstown State before he got the chance at OSU. Frank Solich seems to be content at Ohio U; Tressel could certainly take a similar route.

Tressel strikes me as a guy who lives to coach (and he's pretty good at it). My guess is it's either coaching or being Michael Emerson's stunt double.

This isn't happening unless he somehow manages to escape a show-clause penalty (which seems unlikely).

Did someone let the Colts know? They are going to need a new instant replay consultant.

I saw a tweet that they asked him and he said no, but was going to help them with the search.

Assuming this is true, then they are desperate! The news on a show clause penalty will be out early in December.

I assumed it was a typo before, so I didn't say anything - but just FYI, it's show-cause, not show clause.

I am so full of win right now. Yes, you are right. I will leave the stupidity of my posts unedited because I can't believe I did that twice in a row. I will blame not eating lunch. :)

Akron would hire mt union coach before whitewater coach any day of the week.

Rumor around some circles I'm in is that caruso at St Thomas will be the coach at south Dakota in the next 4 weeks. If this is true and he has any success he is a very good candidate for some fbs program a few years down the line. I dont know if I beleive the rumor though.

From what I read about him he is pretty similar to the guy that was the Basketball coach at UST, although I don't think he had near the instant success as Caruso is experiencing.

Any day of the week? UW-Whitewater has beaten Mount Union in the Division 3 championship game 3 of the last 4 years. UW-Whitewater has won 42 games in a row. The Mount Union coach is also 63 years old.

Was Mitch Browning still an assistant at Akron? I know he was there last season.

Ianello is another example of how trying to find a head coach can be a crap-shoot. He seemed to have all the cred, working as an assistant at some very successful programs. Looking at his resume, however, I see the same red flag I saw with Brewster and that's that he was never a coordinator at any of his assistant coaching stops.

In the poor form department, Ianello was on his way to his mother's funeral when he got the cell phone call telling him he'd been fired.

Browning and Cosgrove were on the staff this season.

The AD was Joel's right hand man during the Brew hire. He's now hiring his second coach in three years at Akron. Can't make it up.
