Chloe Bibby is incoming for Maryland, so it’s not all losses. Maybe Mikesell saw that Bibby was incoming and it put her off. Or it could be something entirely else. Players tend to be vague about these things.
 

Freese is a great recruiter, maybe the best in the BIG, but her ability to retain players, including some key players, is certainly questionable. She loses key players at a much higher rate than most other Top 10 program coaches.

The national freshman of the year at Maryland and an All-Pac-12 selection the past two seasons at Oregon State, Destiny Slocum will play her final season of college basketball at Arkansas.

Arguably the most highly sought player to enter her name in the transfer portal since the end of the season, Slocum announced her decision in a Twitter post Saturday.

The 5-foot-7 fifth-year guard will be eligible for the 2020-21 season as a graduate transfer.

Slocum's decision brings a well-traveled college career something close to full circle. As a high schooler, the Meridian, Idaho, product verbally committed to the University of Washington before reopening her recruiting and settling on Maryland. Now after an additional stop at Oregon State, she will finally play for Arkansas coach Mike Neighbors, who held the same role at Washington when Slocum was a high school recruit.

Arkansas did not immediately confirm Slocum's decision. But in a tweet timestamped six minutes after Slocum's announcement, Neighbors posted a GIF of himself pumping his fist.

Slocum led Oregon State in scoring and assists in each of her two seasons on the court. This past season she averaged 14.9 points and 4.7 assists and was the Pac-12's fifth-most prolific 3-point shooter. Oregon State was ranked No. 14 in the country when the NCAA tournament was canceled.

Smith comes to MSU as a transfer from Penn State and is a native of Lansing, Michigan.

"We are excited to have Alisia join the Spartan Family. Her skill set will add experience and versatility to our post position. She is tremendous in transition, a hard worker and a fantastic rebounder. We are thrilled to bring Alisia back home to finish her career and can't wait to have the opportunity to be part of her basketball journey," Merchant said.

Smith, a 6-3 forward, was a graduate of Waverly High School. The PSU transfer averaged 6.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a junior. The forward was fourth on the team in scoring and tied for first in rebounding, scoring in double figures seven times last season

Don't say I don't have a clue, since my prior analysis on that was taken straight from the formal statement of the proposed new transfer rules. What I don't know is what exact procedures would be used to implement those rules. Rules are just a policy, but then there needs to be administrative procedures to implement the rules, and that happens after new rules are approved (which apparently will happen, or not, in May). So I don't have a clue about how they would implement that administratively (and that is what I speculated on in my post). But my original analysis of the new rules per se was quite complete.

Ohio State women’s basketball will lose another player to the transfer portal, as sophomore guard Janai Crooms announced her intention to leave the school Thursday on social media.

Crooms played a key role off of the bench last season for the Buckeyes, where she averaged 6.8 points and 3.3 assists per game. She was a major factor in the Buckeyes’ run to the Big Ten title game as she led the team with 15 assists and averaged 8.8 points per game.

In her two years at Ohio State, Crooms averaged 7.8 points and 2.8 assists per game.

“I want to send a final thank you to my teammates for becoming my sisters for life,” Crooms said in a statement on Twitter. “I love each and every one of you and am so grateful for everything you’ve done for me over the past two years.”

PS - I'm a dummy.

I realized that what I was worried about, isn't a thing. Because, of course, just because someone announces in the spring of 2020, that they intend to transfer to a school, doesn't mean the transfer occurs at that time. Duh. The actual transfer won't occur until sometime in the summer of 2020, likely after the start of the new 2020-21 season year, so that it can take advantage of the new rule going into effect immediately. Michigan State head women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant announced that Lauren Rewers has been added to the 2020-21 roster.

Rewers comes to Michigan State as a transfer from the University of Hawai'i and is a native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

"Lauren is a versatile post player that will help us add depth to our center position. Her ability to block shots, score with her back to the basket, as well as face up and extend the defense will make an immediate impact on the court." Merchant said.

Rewers is a 6-4 center, who played three seasons for the Rainbow Wahine. Last season as a junior, she averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She led the University of Hawai'i in blocked shots last season which was ninth in the Big West Conference.

Buckeyes add Providence transfer Hevynne Bristow:

After a few outgoing transfers, including star freshman Kierstan Bell and sophomore Janai Crooms, Kevin McGuff landed one of his own as 6-foot-1 guard Hevynne Bristow is transferring to Ohio State, she announced Friday on Instagram.

As noted in the tweet, Bristow, who hails from Brooklyn, will be reunited with Kateri Poole, a five-star in the 2020 class who chose Ohio State and will be a freshman this upcoming season.

Bristow averaged 2.7 points per game over 29 contests last year for Providence, including three starts. She did not attempt a single 3-pointer.

Bristow will have three years of eligibility remaining and will add to what is already a young Ohio State roster that tied for fifth in the Big Ten last season.

Although it’s hard to imagine why a player would leave a team that just went to the second round of the NCAA tournament for a team that went to no tournament.
 


Many here agree we could use some help in the post. Mikayla Hayes is a 6’3” center out of Park Center HS who has SEC and ACC experience and is in the portal as a grad transfer. Her collegiate stats don’t sound remarkable, but as a grad transfer could provide some short term depth. Her bio on the Clemson site says her mother, Dana, played basketball for the Gophers.

I saw on Instagram that Mykel Parham is transferring from creighton. Would she be a possibility?
 


Unless you are able to add a star, I don't see the point of adding anyone. If everyone returns from the current roster, as has been reported, there is no need to add "depth". With a roster of 15, there's not going to be enough playing time as it is.
 

Mykel would of started for us this year. She is an excellent defensive player that can switch on pick n rolls. She has never been a scorer, but a great team kid that knows her roll.

Creighton wasnt very good and she only played 10 minutes a game. Did they have other good bigs?
 

Nyamer Diew is leaving Butler. Freshman 6'-1", sounds athletic from Butler bio and limited stats. Had a lot of blocks in last few games of season. Coming off an ACL her HS senior year I think. I think she also played on North Tartan so obviously a known here in spite of not being ranked as a top recruit (might be the ACL). Played HS at Worthington and than Sioux City, Iowa.

Always wished Mikayla Hayes would have played for the Gophers, she has a lot of length in the paint and can play defense something we need in a Big or post player. Was a fan when she played for PC in HS.
 


Christianna Carr has entered the portal. I would assume her dad may leave as an assistant coach too.
