Transfer Portal 2026

This is from Reddit. Not familiar with how reliable this poster is. They followed up saying the coach is calling parents today trying to change minds, but maybe Crooks isn’t as wild an idea as I thought last weekend. 4 ISU players have already publicly indicated their intent to enter the portal when it opens.

FWIW I found this article and she specifically declined to answer if she’s coming back when

My wish list would be Liv McGill and Tori’s Minnetonka high school teammate Aaliyah Crump. Adding these 2 plus Tori and Mara would bring an extra gear that elite teams need. Grace and Christian would benefit with a point guard who can penetrate and dish !! Love Battle and she will be missed ! I also have to say as a season ticket holder watching the games my unsung hero is Brylee Glenn, many a games she has come in and slowed down opposing best guard !! There is a reason coach P got her !! Finally does anyone remember back so many years when Whalen got her arm out of the cast and oh yes UCLA was at the barn !! That was magic and so is this !!! Go Gophers !!!
Not sure why Crump would consider transferring. Texas was a # 1 seed, and the only team to defeat UCLA so far. Coming back to Minnesota at this point would be a step down.

That would be a dream. You'd move GG as the 6th person off of the bench for impact shooting and her physical limitations.

The team would still need a big.
I find it interesting that people are so keen on relegating GG to the bench. She might not be the most athletically gifted Gopher, but for a good portion of this season she was the most reliable.

I'd love to see them find an established center to have depth at that position with whomever it would be and Bershers. Ideally then you have that 1-2 punch like this year. Not saying it would be the same but you want that threat under the basket.

Earlier this season I started a thread about who would start this season. My lineup was: Hart, Battle, Braun, McKinney, and Heyer... with GG coming off bench. My justification at the time was that GG was the overall best player and could play virtually every position and provide instant offense.
We need to replace Battle. Why not give Kussow, Paben, Tori O, or Christian a crack at starting and use GG as a sixth.
I don't believe consecutive starts and past performance necessarily dictate the coaches decisions, it's what we need now. IMO we don't need to sift the portal for an All Star point guard... maybe a defensive off-the-bench guard such as Glenn.
This could be somewhat of a developmental year. Might be surprising what the incoming players along with Christian might do... look at Illinois.

... also there is Woodson.

"Why not give Kussow, Paben, Tori O, or Christian a crack at starting and use GG as a sixth." If one of them can beat her out of the starting lineup, fine. But at this point, it's all conjecture. Also, based on what we've seen so far, Coach P has a short leash for freshmen. And, as you wrote, they also have to replace Battle. Putting GG on the bench and starting two new faces seems unlikely to me.

Minnesota Mara - no way - gopher till she dies.

IIRC Tori didn’t have many high P4 offers and her energy says to me she really likes the program and will be it’s leader as a junior (W/Mara) and as a senior.
She also has concussion history which might make would be suitors cautious.

GG while a very good basketball player, is limited physically and has gotten to play a ton hit first two years. At a better program, she’s maybe not a starter and just a rotational player.

In my experience in sports, shared sacrifice and success creates deep bonds. Coach P, like Fleck, recruits to her culture and while that doesn’t eliminate transfers, i feel it definitely minimizes them.
“Coach P, like Fleck, recruits to her culture“. I’m sure she probably does, but let’s be honest, Coach Whalen recruited, and landed, Battle, Braun and Hart, along with others. She should probably get some credit for the culture. She was pretty good at developing culture as the point guard during her playing days.

Better be careful. Saying anything positive about Whalen could lead to someone bringing back his dead horse.

I never said she didn’t, did I (?), but Coach P is now the coach, retained the players (they could have left), has a commitment to D and has us in the Sweet 16.

Obviously, more than one thing can be true🤦‍♂️

Ummm GG plays the entire game many times. I think the non “starter” is now a Duck. GG is coach Ps player. She is a great player too! She will start.
Yep, GG is a scorer, good rebounder and obviously a starter. I was hoping to find another ball handler in the portal like we had with Amaya and Tori this year, a PG or combo guard, that was my interest in a portal player. Was hoping it would be McGill, since she is a true point guard and great passer. We need a replacement at the 5 for Hart to once this season is over. Gonna be hard to replace Amaya Battle and Sophie Hart and the minutes Glenn gave us after this year is over. Cannot instantly replicate experience and smart players. Freshman and Sophomore's you would like to have a stop gap unless the younger players are ready to play. The Big 10 has so many tall and athletic, fast players these days, all of College basketball is moving towards those types. The Freshman will take a bit of time to mesh in.

GG’s handle is better than Tori’s just not as quick.. Braun and McKinney are average and don’t do well when pressured.. GG is more methodical but is strong and rarely gets ripped plus she has the best vision on the team

I would also like a “true” PG in the portal. Maybe Mya Moore actually wants to stay home. (I actually think she would fit better into Coach Ps system then Greenway) She was really good the second half of AAU season. I only watched the one HS game. I also think if they find a starting center in the portal Bershers will be able to fill Tongas role. I’m glad she got that little experience against Green Bay. Her defense will get better as she learns the speed of the game.

Ummm what? Mara has been fantastic in the last couple of months. She's definitely proven she's back from her injury now. When she had the most pressure on her in her NCAA tournament debut, she went 7-10 from three across two games.

GG is not going to the bench her senior year. Coach P will also look for an experienced PG an BIG. It’s Important we keep up the momentum we gained this year.

We also have to expect to lose one or two to the portal. It’s just the nature of the game. Even the best teams don’t retain everyone.

Isn't Tracy Beshers the 5 or Center a graduate player like Sophie Hart? I think the younger sister, the red-shirt is more of a 4 or 3 type player. Not sure if the Milard West Nebraska player or the TN freshmen are a Center or post? Maybe the Purdue Center in the portal has Gopher interest. It will all work itself out in the off-season.

I see Addy Brown from ISU made it official she's transferring somewhere else. If she stays healthy, that would be an all confernence player in whatever conference she goes to potentially.

Zoey Bershers is listed as a center on the Gophers roster

Zoey is the Center and the graduate player, your right Tracy is the freshmen, I mixed up the names, mixed the sisters up. The older one played some the Freshman has been injured.

Zoey is the freshman and listed as a center on the roster. Tracey is a grad and listed as a forward. List Tracey wherever you want, cuz she spent the entire season injured.

Just saw she has a "Do not Contact" tag

Not a big surprise but Kiyomi McMiller is hitting the portal - would not be surprised if Merkle is next in line.

Yeah if Merkle enters I would love to see her a Gopher - she would really open up the outside. She might come with a heavy price tag; but, you never know.
