Transfer Portal 2026

I would actually really like McGill…..or if I get to pick. GReenway to change her mind 😜😜

Regarding Greenway, Chad has said she's going where the most money is.

Agree with this. Who is guarding the perimeter?
No chance at going to Iowa. Would make much more sense at MN, but if she's getting paid I don't see her leaving. Maybe if a new coach comes in.

Replacing Hart and Battle are big this offseason.

Coach P seems to have a good team first culture built.

And I’ve heard she wants to get away. All is good, she has just really grown on me. I was not always a fan.

I would chip in, sell some stock, if there is an organized effort to being McGill home to play for Gophers. Liv is a great player, and is a Hopkins legend just like Battle.
I'm sure all of the positive media stories in the past 24 hours about how this Sweet Sixteen run was made by and for Minnesotans who believed in the program will help us get a serious look from McGill or anyone else who might want to come back home!

I also hope this helps keep our big three (GG, Braun, and Tori) from staying and not entering the portal.

I THINK the run solidifies the three staying. Wrote this wrong at first!

Minnesota Mara - no way - gopher till she dies.

IIRC Tori didn’t have many high P4 offers and her energy says to me she really likes the program and will be it’s leader as a junior (W/Mara) and as a senior.
She also has concussion history which might make would be suitors cautious.

GG while a very good basketball player, is limited physically and has gotten to play a ton hit first two years. At a better program, she’s maybe not a starter and just a rotational player.

In my experience in sports, shared sacrifice and success creates deep bonds. Coach P, like Fleck, recruits to her culture and while that doesn’t eliminate transfers, i feel it definitely minimizes them.

I don’t think run solidifies the three staying.
Players are much less likely to leave a winning team, especially one that's on the rise. And in general, I would hope the key players have seen how good Coach P is at tapping into their talent and helping them all play better than the sum of their parts. I also bet there's a part of them that has a chip on their shoulder because everyone underestimated them most of this season and they'd love to run it back next year with hopefully more national attention.

Agreed fully on Mara and Tori. Based on the locker room interviews I've seen this weekend, they're excited and fully bought in. I haven't seen any interviews with Grace after the wins, but I think there's not a lot to suggest she'd leave. Coach P has said in the past that Grace is her coach on the floor, so that sounds like they have a great relationship.

And it's kind of beside the point, but I disagree that Grace wouldn't be a starter elsewhere. She plays fantastic defense, and at one point in the middle of the season she had the best three point percentage in the country. She'd be extremely valuable pretty much anywhere else.

To clarify I didn’t say elsewhere, but specifically at a better program -

My assumption is why transfer to a lesser school, once you tasted some tangible success.

Regarding McGill, Florida has hired Tammi Reiss former coach of Rhode Island.

My wish list would be Liv McGill and Tori’s Minnetonka high school teammate Aaliyah Crump. Adding these 2 plus Tori and Mara would bring an extra gear that elite teams need. Grace and Christian would benefit with a point guard who can penetrate and dish !! Love Battle and she will be missed ! I also have to say as a season ticket holder watching the games my unsung hero is Brylee Glenn, many a games she has come in and slowed down opposing best guard !! There is a reason coach P got her !! Finally does anyone remember back so many years when Whalen got her arm out of the cast and oh yes UCLA was at the barn !! That was magic and so is this !!! Go Gophers !!!

I don't understand all the concern about these players leaving.... I guess it's possible, but it would seem to me it was more likely to have happened after two previous failures to make the NCAA tournament. Where is all this concern coming from?

Mara is on billboards all over the city right now. You think she's going to have a larger profile somewhere else?

Didn't Grace commit to Dawny P at West Virginia? You think someone willing to go to West Virginia for a coach is going to leave here, when she plays 39 minutes a game here on a team that wins?

My fear is if she does, it will be to Iowa.
That won't happen, they already have that money invested. The Hawks program has a high-profile five-star recruit joining them in their Class of 2026. McKenna Woliczko, who is a 6-foot-2 forward/center and the No. 6 ranked player in that class.

That would be a dream. You'd move GG as the 6th person off of the bench for impact shooting and her physical limitations.

The team would still need a big.

MN sports inferiority complex🤷‍♂️

Perhaps others know details, but wasn't she recruited by Coach P and considered Minnesota before selecting Purdue?
Would she be a good fit?

Didn't she move to Florida for her senior year... for higher level competition?
McGill played her senior year at Hopkins. You’re maybe thinking of Aaliyah Crump (now at Texas) who skipped her senior year at Minnetonka to play at one of the sports academies in Florida.

Yes, I was thinking of Crump. Thanks for clarifying.

Do you think she announced her intentions now because wants to throw-her-hat into the ring early for Hart's position?
