Tracy Claeys will meet with Reid Travis this week

If Claeys is visiting him is that an indication he may be projected to DE? Julius Peppers played both at a high level at UNC.

Claeys is the recruiter for the metro area per something I read in another article, therefore the fact that Claeys is visiting him has nothing to do with an indication that Travis would be moved to or projected as a DE.

I threw that in just for your benefit. Seriously. Glad to be of service.

I appreciate it. That Conzemius quote will live in infamy. It is just unbelievable what some guys who are held out as experts actually say while on the air.

Most NFL teams don't like really tall QBs because of guys like McGuire. They usually have a long Leftwich-like windup and move awkwardly. QBs that tall are very rare. Brock Osweiler wasn't great in college and will probably never be anything special in the NFL. Way too many mistakes.

Regarding other guys, there are just not many in today's NFL and most of them are OTs like Jonathan Ogden (6'9") from a few years ago.

Most NFL teams don't like really tall QBs because not many people 6'8" and over exist on planet Earth. Even fewer are capable of playing at the NFL level. Fewer still are capable of playing QB while being 6'8" at the NFL level. That doesn't mean it can't happen and also doesn't mean that Travis, if capable, can't play TE, WR, or DE in the NFL.

Regarding other guys, there are just not many in today's NFL

If you take all of the 6'8" men between ages 22-35 (~NFL playing age) in the world, compare all of the 6'8" men currently playing in the NFL, and then take all of the 6'0" men between ages 22-35 in the world, compare all of the 6'0" men currently playing in the NFL - I guarantee that the proportion of all 6'8" men in the NFL vs. not in the NFL is much, much, MUCH higher than the ratio of all 6'0" men in the NFL vs. not in the NFL. I know you don't realize it, but the "point" you're making is that there aren't many 6'8" men aged 22-35 who are also world-class athletes. To which I say:

Ok, I must know reference you are talking about.. What did the Fargo Flash say?

I don't remember exactly how he said it, but he basically said at 6'4", MarQueis Gray was too tall to play quarterback and the NFL doesn't like QBs that tall...something like that. Just an unbelievably bad take.

It's one thing to rip fat patti, soup can or dog breath, but Justin? I’ll admit I was amused by the comment but let’s not entirely throw him under the bus. Justin may say some off the wall things every once in awhile but he is generally O.K. and if nothing else mostly positive. He usually offers constructive criticism as opposed to the crap spewed by fat patti, soup can and dog breath. I know they represent different worlds. I just prefer to save my shots for the hack journalists.

Yeah, that was basically the gist of it. I still remember hearing it live and immediately assuming a full facepalm.

Reid's dad Nate Travis was a good basketball player and his Uncle, Curtis Travis was a fantastic 6'5 forward for South High School in the.....gulp.....80's. I sure hope neither hold any sort of resentment towards the U (smile..not saying they do, just having a little fun).

Did I mention they are related to a certain former gopher football captain?

Reid is a athletic QB with a big arm. He certainly can play at the Big Ten level, but as a running QB? At 6'7 or 6'8? Great athlete, he would be a huge get and like some said he could play a multitude of positions.

I will gamble and declare that he will never wear a gophers football uniform. For him to play football he would almost have to be a can't miss 5* prospect.

Word on the street is the Gophers are recruiting him as an athlete. Similar to Duke Anyanwu, except with a bigger frame. Great athlete, would love to see him in maroon and gold. I'd bet on hoops though.

I've heard that as well. I think Travis would be better fit as a TE. Especially if he wants to play basketball too.

He was good enough to be a second round pick. And the guy who picked him knows a little bit about how to be a good quarterback.
