Max- Defense dominated scrimmage?
TC: (missed some of this answer) getting better on offensive side. Defense played very well.
Sid- coaching clinic?
TC: around 1400 coaches - best ever had. showed up at meetings and practice. Shows a lot of interest.
Max- you guys visit with HS coaches.
TC: most of us coached in HS. sit down, talk with people, you can learn something. Recruiting - priority to keep kids in state. Have great relationship with HS coaches.
Sid - not worried about the offense?
TC: not at all. OL - we've got one group that can do some good things. need to develop depth. didn't turn ball over, jump offsides. got to get better at pass protection, throwing the ball.
Sid - connection with D-coordinator at Denver? (Wade Phillips)
TC: have a good friend in common. spent 2 days at practices. went through video.
It's getting earlier to recruit linebackers than big d-linemen. we're going to be a 4-3 team, but looking to future, if you cant find d-linemen, have to have enough linebackers.
Sid - Seth Green?
TC: continues to get better. Coach Johnson and Weber working - shorten up throwing motion. get comfortable with speed of game. has the intelligence. takes adjustment with how fast things happen.
Sid - if you had to play a game, who starts on OL?
TC: about 7 kids we have to get straightened out. Moore -Pirsig - Calhoun - Wright will be on left side. Connor Mayes - Dovich has a chance. We'll get it worked out.
going to have to stay healthy - not sure how much depth. might still look for kid or 2 out of junior college.
Max - question about defensive adjustments? Chess game as D-coordinator?
TC: once you get midway through 3rd qtr, you know what you're going to get. what they've changed at halftime. comes down to tackling.
Sid - will o-line be better than last year?
TC: yes. we don't have to be dominant, but we have to get movement on D-line. can't give up sacks. we're getting bodies on bodies so backs can get to line of scrimmage. continue on blitz and stunt game. need to work on the most.
Sid - surprises? redshirts?
TC: Jared Weyler on OL. Gary Moore - he is really getting close. get 10-12 good snaps a game. Gaelin Elmore really played well at DE yesterday. not breaking a lot of assignments. fundamentals and technique.
