Total Wins During Conference Season

Anybody who thinks this coach is performing as his predecessors did doesn't know basketball.

This team is less fun to watch than Patino and Tubby
Recruiting is worse than the previous two
Record is worse than previous two

Sure we won 9 BIG games last year, but lets be honest, who were those wins against? Anytime Pitino or Tubby had that win total or less there were several quality wins against quality opponents. Those teams were also much more competitive in the losses.

Not to mention ZERO tournament appearances, nobody on this forum expects Kentucky results, but envying Marquette? St. Marys? I mean lets be real here.

He should be gone yesterday. NIL is not going anywhere, last I checked Ben didn't take this job with the caveat that he didn't have to perform because it's hard?

I truly feel this team and program can be a top 30 program in the country. We have one of the best AAU programs, best in class education, and several fortune 500 companies that we can leverage with partnerships and programs.

These things are easier with Billionaire donors (Arkansas) but can be accomplished with hard work and outside of the box thinking. This is what AD's and Coaches are paid for.

I am guessing 4-5 BIG wins and sad to say looks like that is MORE optimistic than the poll responses on average. SAD

Oh, for Christ sakes, give it a rest. He's likely a dead man walking now. What's the point of piling on?

Say that to the lames defending him (which is who my post is directed at)

THEY need to give it a rest

Went with 4-5. The league schedule is MUCH tougher than it was a year ago. We were 1-8 in Q1 regular season conference games last year. 4-5 honestly might be generous. We'll see.
That's BS.

Computer metrics don't tell the story. We were 9-11 in Big Ten play last year. And it's still the same conference.

We were 1-8 in Q1 games in B1G play. That is a fact. But you completely missed my point (no surprise). The schedule is MUCH more difficult (were projected, as of now, to play 14 Q1 games in conference play). Apologies you have no clue how teams are selected for the tournament. You saw how close that 9-11 record got us to making it.

But it's been especially more shitty under Ben. Both previous coaches made the tournament in or by Year 4. Ben is now 11 games under .500 overall, despite playing, on average, a Non Con SOS in the 330's. Imagine what his record would be if he wasn't scared of playing a decent Non Con schedule, like Pitino or Tubby. It's crazy this level of absolute ineptitude is okay with you. I seriously don't understand why you keep defending him. Lol.
Johnny is president of the cbj protection detail.

Went with 4-5 wins but that could be a stretch sadly. Still figure they find their way to some home wins along the way. Not sure if that will be enough wins to get into the Big Ten Tournament, certainly won't be enough for NCAA tournament or to save Ben's job most likely.
You supported this rubbish at every turn. Own it.

You need a new tag line. No one is apologizing for Ben he's a 40 year old millionaire that I don't know or care about. The program sucks. Ben clearly sucks as coach of said program for a multitude of reasons.
And you couldn't see this coming. Some did. And you bashed them.

You might be mistaking the reasons for the bashing. People bash you because you're an irredeemable asshole. As far as Johnson, his 3rd year showed enough improvement to earn a 4th but it wasn't good enough to get him anything beyond that. Based on how the season is going so far, it would take an almost miraculous turnaround for him to deserve a 5th season.

Bens tenure, all of it including last season, didn't show squat. Rationalization is you, Dipshidiot.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say we win 2 conference games

The NCAA is a business. They want us pouring over 'metrics'. Computers. They want us watching as many games as possible...opponents of opponents, score differential, etc., etc.

If you want to analyze our NCAA chances, that's fine.

But I don't want to hear that a 9-11 team stinks because a computer says so. Or that one conference is great and another stinks because a computer says so. Computers shouldn't replace our own eyes.

I don't need a computer to tell me 9-11, in our league last year, wasn't good. I'd be much more impressed if we managed that this year. There's really nothing to suggest last year's team was good, or above avg. Was it improved from the year before? Yes, for sure.

Thats the thing though, last team was bad based on the eye test too. What in gods name are you talking about?

It showed enough for him to get a 4th season. That's all. You know how I know I was right? Because that's what happened without any input at all from me! Perhaps the best part of that decision was that it made a bunch of miserable jerks who post here unhappy.

Our team last year was pretty talented, and the 9-11 was a significant step forward...

But we still underachieved. No excuse for not making the Dance with that starting 5.

It was a poorly coached team that folded down the stretch. That combined with a shitty and pathetic non conference schedule made it a disappointing season overall IMO.

Oh and I forgot...blew a golden (possibly once in a generation) chance with the home BTT at Target Center. Had Michigan State on the ropes and couldn't even see that through.

Mike Mitchell was the worst starter on the team last year and he's a pretty good player as we saw the other night. Ben's chance was last year and half the locker room quit on him when we were squarely on the bubble after beating Ohio State with a few games to play.

It was a ridiculous hire to begin with but I'm a Gopher loyalist and wanted to give him a fair shot to succeed. Didn't happen.

If we get boatraced in Bloomington on Monday, Coyle should pull the plug. He won't, but he should.

Coyle should take all the NIL money for next year and loan it to that Nigerian Prince and see if we get it back 10 fold.
