per The Big Lead:

Quinn Nordin is the #1 ranked kicker in the nation according to Rivals and 247. According to the above video, he’s the “most offered kicker in the nation.” He’s from Michigan, chose Penn State, and arrived… somewhere in a private jet recently. This video proves that the addition of “Coming Home” makes anything seem super epic and important. Even a college kicker. Coming home to somewhere that is not his home. I’ll let PennLive explain:

Penn State today landed a verbal commitment from Rockford (Mich.) High School placekicker Quinn Nordin, who called the school “a perfect combination of academics and football” in announcing his college choice. Nordin complemented a live announcement with a produced video, in which he climbed out of an airplane wearing a Penn State jacket.

Go Gophers!!

Fans are as much to blame as anyone for this kind of display. Rivals, Scout, 24/7, etc all exist to track the movements of teenagers and give them a stage to become celebrities, this is the result of fans making deities of recruits.

I find this hilarious and everyone that gets mad about it funny too. Granted I'd never do it or let my kids do something like this but none of this really matters. Its sports which are by definition entertainment

Pretty similar to how Peter Mortell committed to the Gophers.

If he ever kicks at TCF, instead of putting the gopher up on the big screen to freeze him out, someone in the stadium crew needs to put up the picture of him from this video.

Given this kid's level of ******baggedness, I'm amazed he didn't pick SCum. Maybe he figured with Harbaw in Ann Arbor there wasn't room for a 2nd prima donna. Especially one who wasn't gonna get his uniform dirty

im guessing this dude thinks he is as funny as Mortell... sorry to say duder that that is not the case. This is dumb.

Yep, I'm not necessarily a fan of it either but I don't hate the kid either just because I don't have a private jet.

I'm torn: if this was done as a 'tongue in cheek' jab at the overhyping of commitment announcements, I find it kind of funny and clever...especially if he has a sense of humor regarding the position he plays. If, though, he is being 100% sincere he definitely has some identity issues.

Of course it was tongue in cheek. The whole "arrive on a jet" is faked. He got some jet-in-the-air footage, knew someone, or convinced someone to let him sit in the plane, and walk down the exit stairs and stand in front of the plane.

By the way, the plane is a turboprop - I am reasonably certain it is a Pilatus - popular among small business that aren't quite big enough to buy a "real" jet but still need to get to distant locations. I don't know the kid's background but the plane could very well be owned by the family, a friend of the family or simply someone willing to play along with the joke.
