1. Mike Bellotti- Power coach like Tubby would be bigger than President, AD, and Regents.
2. Al Golden- Instant credibility to the job.
3. Brady Hoke- This year's hot coach, seems like a safe pick too.
4. Jeff Jagodzinski- Won big at Boston College and NFL experience would be respected by recruits.
5. Steve Mariucci- He's a good coach and would attract top assistants.

Jim Harbaugh would be #1, but don't see him as realistic. He's reached Michigan, USC, Georgia, or NFL caliber.

My #1 criteria, no gimmick offensive schemes. Get a guy with a scheme that fits the players we produce/can recruit here.

1. Golden. I think he "gets" the college game.
2. Paul Chryst. He's probably too much of a gamble for the U at this point, but I think he's headed for a job of his own very soon.
3. Bellotti. Like everything about him, except his age. If the U is looking for a long-timer, he's not the answer. If he could build up the program and leave a successor in his place, I'd be quite pleased with that.
4. Brent Venables. Oklahoma's been a lot better than people expected this year, he's going to get his shot sooner rather than later.
5. Ron English. He was my choice last time around and I refuse to admit I was wrong about the guy.

Leslie Frazier, Mike Bellotti, Marc Trestman, Kevin Sumlin.

Also maybe Paul Chryst, Mike Leach, etc

Jagodzinski was exposed when he went to Tampa and was in so far over his head as OC they they fired him in his first preseason. Not sure Bellotti has the sway at his age to be be "power" coach. I think it will be tough for him to get a BCS job, but I am not opposed to him.

Remove Mariucci and put Frazier in there for me. If (most) everyone thinks Tony Dungy is the kill shot here - and obviously Dungy isn't going to be the coach - why not go for the Tony Dungy clone.

1. Mike Bellotti
2. Leslie Frazier
3. Gus Bradley
4. Al Golden
5. Jerry Kill

Those are all good except for Jagodzinski. There's a reason he's coaching in Omaha and it's not good.

1. Tony Dungy
2. Jack Del Rio
3. Leslie Frazier
4. Paul Chryst
5. Mark Trestman/Kevin Sumlin

Because people think Dungy would be able to recruit the 4 and 5-star athletes that we haven't been able to recruit before. Not so much with Frazier.

1. Golden
2. Frazier
3. Bellotti
4. Trestman
5. Richt/Sumlin

1. Al Golden
2. Leslie F.
3. Mark Richt
4. Kirby Smart
5. Vanebles

I don't want a coach who has been fired for hitting a player, locking a player in a closet, or verbally abusing a player. I also don't want anyone from Wisconsin.

(1.) Trestman (2.) Frazier (3.) Sumlin (Distant 4.)...Hohensee (Even more distant 5.)....Horton (assuming the rodents win 2 or 3 games more this reason). At this point, there are only 2 candidates that I could support--Trestman and Frazier, in that order.

1. Al Golden
2. Leslie F.
3. Mark Richt
4. Kirby Smart
5. Vanebles

Good luck finding a coaching staff

Based on the little I know about each of them...

1. Mike Belotti
2. Mike Stoops (He currently earns $1 mil/year; I think we could lure him away)
3. Randy Edsall
4. Brady Hoke (SDSU)
5. Don Treadwell (Michigan State OC & interim HC)

Sumlin, Golden, Hoke, Edsall would all be good hires. We need a college head coach.

1. Bellotti
1a. Richt
3. Stoops
4. Golden
5. Treadwell

1. Harbaugh- only makes ~$1.5 or less. If we pony up big$ I think he can be had.
2. Richt
3. Golden
4. Belotti
5. Petersen- samme thing as Harbaugh...the$ we are talking about should be able to get him here.

I am not sure we can throw the football around like Mike Leach is predisposed to in November, but I am not opposed to a coach who tells somebody to go stand in a dark place and later refuses to apologize to the student (a horrible crime). Woody Hayes was not given to apologize either. You want "Minnesota Nice" or do you want a football coach who generates some controversy from time to time and in the process occasionally lights a fire under his team? Seems to me we are badly in need of a coach who will light a fire under the team. By the way, many thanks to all the @$$h01e$ on GopherHole who were so quick to tar, feather, and lynch the best football coach we had since Cal Stoll because we lost by a last second field goal to the Red Raiders, who went on to contend for the national title. If you all had been born a little bit earlier, you would have had the opportunity to follow Reverend Jim Jones to Guyana to drink Kool Aid with him. Instead you all force fed the "Kool Aid" to the University of Minnesota Football Program and set it back a decade. Imagine what Glen could have done at TCF Bank Stadium (which he built) with DCs who were paid $350,000 / year instead of $130,000 / year, which is what I think David Lockwood was making before they all got shown the door. But, the dumbest move, the new coach showing Gordy Shaw the door after trying to hold all the recruits together. Try as I might, I don't think I can forgive you @$$h01e$ who were part of the "Fire Mason" contingent. In several years, maybe. SKI-U-MAH!

The thing about Harbaugh... if we put 3.5 million, say, for harbaugh, I bet the Stanford alumni (a pretty influential bunch) could match that easily. And you bet they would, too.

Word is Harbaugh is headed to the NFL. His brother is obviously a very good NFL coach and Jim will get his chance as well. That is if he doesn't prefer the NCAA. I'd love him, but think he's a longshot.

Hahaha. So true. I'm sure Jim's people are sending out feelers at this moment. I've been a fan for the previous three searches. We got used to sweeten deals for guys during all three searches. You're welcome Harbaugh!!

Thanks for posting Mrs. Mason. Seriously, if you really think that is why Coach Mason was fired, you really need a reality check. Glen was fired plain and simply because of his own lack of work ethic and care about the results on the field. When you are laughing and joking around your boss (President Bruininks) following the largest collapse in bowl history, it will get you canned. I appreciate all that Coach Mason brought to the table, but he wasn't going to take the program any further. If you think that the Gopherhole had something to do with Coach Mason's termination, I have some oceanfront property just outside of Lubbock, Texas to sell you.

Fired for verbally abusing a player. I know of only 1 coach actually fired for being too verbally abusive...Mangino.

i'm not saying fired i'm saying the act. if they are firing coaches for yelling at kids there would be no one to coach

Just my opinion...I don't think people care that much about football. Look at their attendance last year and this. They just recently started to sell out a stadium...with his success. Same is true at TCU....brutal support for a winning team.

He had words for Michigan in the past...we could offer the unique opportunity to play them every year and for a trophy that he knows well no less.

We'll see.
