Go Gophers!!
Interesting how different players' games translate or don't translate well to the NBA. Thompson was the better college player than McHale, so was Jim Brewer for that matter. But as a pro McHale far exceeded either and may be one of the top 10 NBA PFs of all time.

Good observation. Possible answer in McHales situation is another forward from French Lick, IN?Interesting how different players' games translate or don't translate well to the NBA. Certainly Bird gets credit for a lot, but still, you end up getting credit for what you produce, regardless of who helped. McHale had an amazing run and at times was nearly impossible to stop with his post footwork and creativity.Good observation. Tim Duncan, and Anthony Davis were both College Centers.
I recall the talk of draft with Spurs being #1 was how Duncan was good enough to move to PF to accomodate David Robinson.
Robinson’s year long injury was how they got that first pick after finishing first the year before.
Davis was consensus All American at Center.
Coleman would have surpassed Warrick, if not for Bob Martin getting the best of him in the second round of the NCAAs... Coleman got so mad he heaved a ball at MartinHakim Warrick over Derrick Coleman is a joke
