Tony Granato is set to be named the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey coach, according to multiple reports.
Granato, a two-time second-team All-American as a player for the Badgers from 1983 to '87, will succeed Mike Eaves, who was fired on March 18 after 14 seasons.
Granato, 51, has been coaching in the National Hockey League since 2002, including two stints as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche. He has been an assistant with the Detroit Red Wings the past two seasons, after five seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins
