per Dienhart:

OL Brian Bobek, Minnesota. Ohio State transfer who is finally getting a chance. He had to sit out as a transfer and then missed a season with a viral infection. Now he has a chance to be the starting center. If he earns the job, Jon Christenson (who missed spring as a steel rod was taken out of his leg) would move to guard. Coaches say Bobek had a really good spring.

RB Rodrick Williams, Minnesota. Finally a senior and no longer behind David Cobb, Williams has dropped 20 pounds (is still a thumper though) and has fully bought in to what it takes to be a top Big Ten player.

LB Cody Poock, Minnesota. He had 17 tackles in the spring game as he looks to replace Damien Wilson.

Go Gophers!!

I hope he's right about Bobek because that means we have some good depth on the OL.

Agree the Rodrick is the new David Cobb. Maybe better. He has strong backup too!

My comment is based from watching the spring game on video, so I may be wrong. However, I didn't see any of the RBs exhibit the style of running that Cobb had. Cobb excelled because he had the patience to wait for a hole or crease to develop and then use quickness and power to get the most of it. In the spring game, The backs hit the line fast and hard, but didn't wait for the play to develop. They had some success, but weren't able to find the best path through the defenders that Cobb seemed to find more often than not. I think our offensive line will be better than last year, but they still won't be an elite unit able to open holes at will against the best defenses. To have a successful year, I think the RBs need to find that style similar to Cobb that served home so well for 2 years.
