TIM BREWSTER HAS DESTROYED MINNESOTA FOOTBALL

why don't they have cash registers at the concession stands?

?

B.S. 7-1 in 2008 beating a bunch of poor teams and then folding up after NW was awful reminiscent of Mason's track record.

B.S. - Has Brewster beat Iowa?, Mason did, has Brewster beat Wisconsin?, Mason did, has Brewster beat Penn St., Mason did it on the road, has Brewster beat Ohio St? Mason did it on the road.

Mason is a coaching legend. Look at what he accomplished in the Music City Bowl. Those were hard shoes to fill.

comparing mason to brew is comparing being average to being below average-both are unacceptable.....what is the point

There is no point, of course. Mason was fired too late and Brewster is probably going to be fired at the right time. Every year about 20 to 25 Division I football schools replace their coaches. The U is going to be on that list soon enough. So what is the big deal? That is how it works in big time sports. Don't fool yourself into thinking that Gopher football has been anything but a complete failure since before most of you guys were born.

The U has had a 43 year run of hiring coaches who couldn't win a Big 10 Championship. Now we can add Brewster to the list. And with Nebraska entering the Big 10 next year you younger guys should expect to have your own 40 year wait for a title. Hopefully you will be able to see a few more trophy game wins than you have in the last few years. Unfortunately, as Gopher football fans that is probably all you are going to be able to look forward to as you get older. Enjoy it for what it is - outdoor Big 10 college football on a nice fall Saturday in wonderful football stadium.

Brewster is a laughingstock and has pulled the program down to his level. The sooner the U cuts its losses and fires him, the better.

Also - Mason is irrelevent. Citing his defeciencies does not address what needs to be done now, so there is no reason to keep bringing him up, except to try to deflect criticism from Brewster. Brewster should join Mason as a former U coach.

Mason's team was at least respectable and occasionally pulled the upset and had some ranked teams, not to mention the best run game in the nation.

Now we're just pathetic. Talentedly pathetic.

Not that respectable. Let's look at the record at Camp Randall (five losses):

1998: 7 - 26
2000: 20 - 41
2002: 31 - 49
2004: 14 - 38
2006: 12 - 48

EG#9, two of the better and more rational posts I've seen in here since yesterday!

Brewster hasn't won a rival or trophy game yet. As flawed as Mason's record was he at least did that.

Please for the love of god don't let Maturi pick the new coach.

RIGHT ON!!!! get Bud grant, Tony Dungy, and other former gopher greats ..form a committee...and let them choose

I like the idea, but that would require the University to shell out a couple hundred thousand dollars to put these guys to work. And, thanks to Sid Hartman, we all know the University doesn't spend any money on the football program.
