Here's the E-Mail I got last night about the Guest passes for students:

Enjoy the Gopher Football Season with all of your friends! New this season,
student season ticket holders will be able to purchase a guest pass in addition
to their season ticket. Guest passes can be used by anyone, and offer general
admission seating in the student section.

- Each student season ticket holder would be able to purchase one (1) guest
pass
- Guest Passes will be able to be used by anyone, not just students
- Price for a Guest Pass will be $275.00 (season ticket) and is to be used in
the Student Section
- Guest Passes will go on sale Thursday, July 22nd at 9:00am and can be
purchased over the phone or in person only. Must be a 2010 Football Student
Season Ticket Holder to purchase a guest pass.
- If available, single game guest passes will go on sale the Tuesday prior the
home game.

To purchase your student season guest pass, call 612-624-8080 or visit us at
Mariucci Arena.

I just saw that too. I don't really like it personally. That comes to just under $40 a game, which is only 10 dollars less than face value for other seats in the stadium. I payed about $12 a game for my student tickets. None of my friends visiting from other colleges are going to fork over $40 dollars for a game (let alone $275 dollars for the season). The main beneficiaries of this system will be cheap, older adults.

I guess its better than nothing if it helps fill the half empty upper deck, however I wish I wouldn't still have to find a student friend that looks kind of like the friend I'm bringing to the game and borrow their student ID so my visiting friend can get in.

(and yes, these visiting friends are always gopher fans)
