Poor showing. Really? You don't even send the Gopher's basketball beat writer (Amelia Rayno) to any of the Gopher's three NIT games thus far? Cheap skates. Piss poor coverage by your paid staff. You had freelancers write the LaSalle, Miami AND Middle Tennessee main recaps/reports. Where is Amelia Rayno and why is she not traveling to these games with the team? Unless I am mistaken, it appears the St. Paul Pioneer Press has been sending Marcus Fuller on the road with the team during their NIT run and it is his bylines showing up after the games.

Let me guess, you will be sending Amelia to NYC now? If she is the Gopher's basketball beat writer, she should be at all of their games. That is the type of coverage Minnesotans expect from the Minneapolis paper when it comes to OUR Golden Gophers.

P.S. Unless I missed it, once again a big FU to that smart-ass, d-bag Randy Shaver at KARE 11. I don't think he even covered the Gopher win on last night's 10pm news. Instead all we got was a bunch of prep sports coverage of the boy's state basketball tourney. Randy Shaver's petulant attitude towards the U of M is so annoying and disappointing to say the least. He acts like such a little biaatch towards the Gophers most of the time on air and on the radio (93X) in the mornings. Be a professional, you turd.

100%, Pathetic coverage. If a player got into trouble while on this trip you can bet they'd have covered that!

At the same time, they send Chris Riemenschneider to Austin, TX to cover the SXSW music conference, and they send the worthless Neal Justin to all these TV conferences every year. Yes, I get that we pride ourselves on the arts, but if times are tough at the paper, find a freelance writer in Austin to do that work.

They would send every beat writer and Sid in that case.

I don't think the PP sent anyone until Middle Tennessee State, but I could be wrong.

Supa-

Shaver did cover the Gophers last night, in fact I believe it was the first item in the sportscast. The "normal" sportscast was early last night on KARE11 because they did a full sports segment, followed by a commercial, followed by a full Prep Sports Extra that aired during the normal sports time.

Bingo. You missed it.

Do realize that the Strib sports editor is a huge advocate of major college sports. If you want lots of football/basketball coverage, you wouldn't want anyone else in that big chair.

Assuming you aren't talking about Brackin since he's assistant sports editor but manages coverage of U sports. When they need an epic hit piece against the Gophers under the guise of "real journalism"...i.e. no Reusse or Souhan, you can count on Brackin.

+1. you hit the nail squarely on the head when it come to dennis brackin and his general approach towards the U of M. he always seems to be eagerly first in line to write up a negative hit piece on them.

Maximus: Not Brackin, but the big boss, Crevier.
