Three-star Minnesota signee Jacob Ross has requested his release from his National Letter of Intent and will reopen his recruitment

The distribution is the thing…majority of the top 100 teams want proven players. They recruit transfers and older players from Europe.
Freshmen are left with school choices they don’t want to go to…if they find an opportunity. Maybe it evens out after the Covid extra year guys but now they added junior college free passes.
Definitely, less opportunity for freshmen at Top 100 programs. Duke is an exception to date but those are Top 10 recruits.
Are you suggesting the top 100 teams in the country are no longer recruiting freshman? They all have multiple freshman coming in every year. A lower tier recruit should have to earn his stripes, why do we feel bad for them?

Calipari is just making things up so he can act like he cares. He used to be all for players getting paid, and as soon as it started to become a reality, he suddenly changed his tune. It's always about him. If he doesn't have an advantage, it's bad for the sport. It's a joke.

They will recruit less of them. And let's face it, if Kentucky or whoever, is going to start a bunch of juniors and seniors who are well paid, ahead of them, why wouldn't they go build their resume where they can get 30 minutes so that they are in position for a pay day? Playing time is going to become as valuable of a commodity as the name on the front of the jersey. It used to be that a college decision was a 4 year decision and if you wanted to play big time ball you had to start with one of the blue bloods. Not any more.

I waiting for the documentary with a college athlete who de commits or goes in portal then never gets picked up or has to go down a level. I’m hearing it happens often
I read somewhere that it is like half, and some don't end up with scholarships. Pretty big gamble unless you are in the top maybe 15-20%.

Terrible how all these poor players are being forced into the portal.

I think it’s an awful lot who don’t end up with scholarships. There is always a backstory to stats but I’m sure those who end up without scholarships are a wide variety of reasons. Some know it’s a long shot. Some are miserable and would rather not play than endure where they are. Some get pushed away. Some are delusional enough to think they are a lot better than they really are. It will take a while to flesh out the whole story.
