I thought the MN fans were great. Went to BWW and Stub and Herbs and had some good conversations with fans. Really nice people. I thought the game was pretty boring and seemed like the fans on both sides never really got into it. Kind of like the outcome was expected, and it was never really a game. Thought your new stadium was pretty nice, hopefully you can get to the point where you can fill it with your own fans, and it should be a lot better atmosphere...

Good luck the rest of the year!

I agree with the post. The Nebraska fans around me never really got into the game other than ripping Martinez, which
surprised me. They expected to win. During the 2nd qtr a Husker fan said to me, "we are not very good and you are just
handing us the game."

I was surprised at the vitriol aimed at Martinez. Where does that come from?

Because he throws my four year old girl and should be playing running back or WR. He also is not a good decision maker and is not able to win big games often enough. I think he is ok, but not a championship level QB. I would take at least 4-5 B10 QB's over him.

don't know what GBR was looking at. this was an exciting game. i thought our gophers were still in this game much longer into the first quarter vs our performance against purdue. if not for a lucky bounce on 4th down for N, this could have been tight into the second quarter

I was actually quite impressed with the Nebraska fans. They didn't talk any trash around me and were in fact complimentary on the stadium and some of the players. They were wondering what it would take for us to get better and said they were pulling for us.

I find it funny how they can come and literally take over a stadium when comparing it other teams. NDSU comes and continually tells us how we have respect them, Wisconsin and Iowa show up, but nothing like it was today. I was actually impressed, opposed to embarrassed, with how much of the stadium was red. I agree though, they were never really loud. I had a feeling that everyone in the stadium knew what the end result was going to be.

My enemy's enemy is my friend

The NE fans I sat near (many Gophers "fans" have already sold-off their season tickets to NE, IA, and WI this year), along with those I know and encountered at the game, universally stated how bad it was at Madison, and just how terrible the WI fans were to NE fans and simply are nasty in general. It was a real theme for NE fans, - and an unsolicited response at that.

Good post, thanks for the feedback.

Seriously, it matters more to me that we treat our guests well than the gophs winning games.

Of course I hope the gophs win next time.

All of the people from Nebraska I met were awesome and the sentiment about hating becky and their fans is 100% true.

Love it

I live in the area and try to get to 3 or 4 Gopher games per season, so it wasn't my first experience at TCF. However, in listening in to other Husker fans sitting around our group, I'll say the comments about the stadium were all very positive (the bathrooms, roomy seats, great views of downtown/the campus, scoreboard, etc).

Also, I saw/heard of no incidents of Husker fans receiving poor treatment from the home fans. My wife and I went to Madison for the Wisconsin game - the older fans we encountered treated us well but the students were definitely a different story.

We must have had the exception sitting behind us. All they did was make fun of the Gophers, brag how good nebraska was, pelini was the greatest coach ever, how drunk they were going to get and how because they were neb fans that wouldn't have any trouble finding women (or maybe men) to satisfy their needs on Sat night. Also every sentence included an f bomb. They also though scatter arm was the second coming of rodgers.

I had several nice talks with Nebraska fans yesterday. Clearly 180 degrees from North Dakota fans that I witness and listened to.
North Dakota kind of reminds me of Iowa, very insecure.

I have seats in two locations in the stadium, sat in both, and the Nebraska fans on both sides were excellent. If you ever get the chance, take in the College World Series in Omaha. The local fans are the best ambassadors you could ever have for an event. It is hands down my favorite sporting event even though my favorite sport is football. Hopefully we improve our on field product so we can have competitive but friendly rival in Nebraska. Welcome to the G1G Cornhuskers!

I live in MPLS and am a Husker fan who frequents Gopher events. I have always said that the two fan bases are very similar and from my experience this weekend it couldn't have been more true. Knowledgeable, courteous, dedicated, want the best for the team and love to see a good game no matter the outcome. Save for the few people that are the exception to the rule.

The Husker fans around us were all great, as were the Gopher fans. The Gopher fans had a very good sense of humor about their team through the struggles and joked with us about each teams shortcomings and strengths. It's easy to see the frustration and I think the Gophers deserve a successful team that way they can get back to the epic battles with the Huskers like back in the day. Coach Kill is a great coach, great guy with a great personality and I hope that he can turn this program around.
