With this NIL landscape, at this University, it just seems like 6 to 8 wins is where we are going to be. Fleck is a solid coach, maybe as good as we will get. The talent gap between us and OSU or Oregon or Michigan and even Iowa is just massive. Basketball I am more hopeful because you only need 5 really good players to strike gold. With football it feels like we are 10-15 million dollars short.

LOL.
Basketball? Men's basketball is miles behind football.

Nope. I don’t believe this at all. If a school like Indiana can turn it around so can the Gophers. You need to get an admin that gives a rip and personally I feel a better AD. Can they do that? If they would commit to it and invest in money for assistants they could.

Will they? I don’t think so, they would rather win the directors cup featuring (no offense) sports that are pretty meaningless.

The question is will our Mark Cuban appear?

What more do you want the administration to do? This is a common complaint i see here. The administration has charged students a $200 fee to pay athletes. That comes to $11 million a year. We have no more stringent admissions for football players than the NCAA requirement of a 2.3 GPA in HS core classes. NCAA no longer requires an ACT/SAT. Our players are pushed into almost exclusively online classes whenever possible. They are paid through the revenue sharing, and more through NIL.

Become a billionaire and donate all your liquid capital to DTA and we too can become Indiana and Texas Tech. I'm sorry every time I see a take I this I just laugh at how out of touch people like you're about what college sports are. We are poor actually we are po we can't afford the extra I and r right now, whether it's Bucky Irving, Phillip Daniels out top assistant coaches we constantly being broke boyed by the haves of the sport. Fleck wins his next two he will have a winning conference record as our head nine years in. No one here has come close to that since black people were allowed to play in the SEC. Fleck has raised the floor and the ceiling here. Also take a look at TT and IU 300 mile radius recruiting, we have the worse radius in the big ten

Yeah, with Minneapolis/St Paul as the big market vs Eugene Oregon.
The only one relavent in tonight's football contest is Nike's share of the shoe and apparel market.

I wish I could be that guy!

Not out of touch at all. I understand the difficulties the U of M faces. We are not poor though. You are mistaken there. I am connected to some of the boosters and the amount of NIL is middle of the pack. Now poor in relation to the mega programs? Yes. Poor in the college football landscape? No.

I’ve been a fan for 50+ years so I have suffered through a lot of misery and I have no qualms about what PJ Fleck has done. My complaints would be the incompetence of some of his coaching staff but that would require a better commitment from the admin/budget department to provide for that.

Do I feel PJ can do better, yes. Am I content with what’s going on? No. Winning creates $, I really do feel a bit more of a commitment towards staffing and this team could take a leap, but that’s my opinion.
