Success breeds expectations. This is what’s happening with Fleck. He’s had success here (based on the last half century of Gopher football).
He’s having a down year this year due to his QB and OC. You’d be really stupid to want a new football coach at Minnesota right now. With Ciarocca and Morgan this team is 8-1 or 7-2 right now. Fleck has earned the ability to adjust and learn. He really hasn’t had a down year here, by MN standards, since his first year here.
He needs to develop an OC, or find one. Only coach I can think of that may be better at MN would be the guy at Washington, but why would he come here? And the guy from Kansas.
Beat Purdue and WI and win a bowl game and it’s 8-5. A good year for MN historically. Throw in the Pig and Axe and it’s a pretty good year historically. Go 5-7 and it’s 1 down year for Fleck. 6-7, down year. 7-6, meh. 7-6 with Axe and Pig, not bad.
