Well, all four team we have to play this month looked strong and dominated in their respective games today! I was hoping for some upsets today but man...Iowa looked unstoppable and tOSU just man handling Illinois who we had trouble with!

This will be a cruel month!

Hope this week off won't throw we mojo off.

Go Gophers!

It will certainly tell us a lot about where we are as a program over the next four games. Gotta find a way to get a win or two. Time to take the next step as a program.

Ohio State will make it a sweep. Let's hope that doesn't happen to us against these teams.

The next four opponents will all be favored by two TD's over the Gophers I am afraid.

I am also afraid of the same thing-- I am hoping for 2 upsets but its possible for 4 blowouts. As a program we just cannot seem to make that jump up to the next level so I am hoping they can prove us wrong. Finishing 4th or lower in our side of the conference is growing tiresome. Seeing Purdue, Illinois and NW all blown out today compared to how evenly we played them is a cause for concern,

The most encouraging win for Gopher fans that didn't involve the Gophers was Northwestern beating Wisconsin.

OSU, Nebraska and Wisconsin all look as good as any team in the Top 10 right now. Fortunately we don't have to play MSU.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the Nebraska game and just looked at the score.

They did not look good.

I did not watch it. I only saw highlights of that one.

Purdue never really seemed to be in a position to pull ahead and win. We can't say the same for when they played Notre Dame. I would say Nebraska has proved they are better.

Agree. If one were just looking at the final score, they might see a semi-beatdown, but to have watched the game, not nearly so much. Purdue had multiple opportunities, and they actually outgained Nebraska by a fairly significant margin on the day in pretty much gale-force wind conditions on the road. It's just that Appleby looked like the inexperienced sophomore quarterback he is, they abandoned the run game (and in wind conditions such as those, why they did so, I will never understand, especially since their ground game was relatively successful), as a consequence of abandoning the run they left themselves in third and long far too often, which equaled to going 2-16 on third downs, and had kid Appleby slinging it around like he was the second coming of Jim Everett out there. I mean 46 pass attempts in that kind of wind? Really?

Nebraska's average starting field position was at their own 49 yard line, but yet they still managed less than 300 yards and only 35 points on the day, and this was a game all the way into the fourth quarter when Boiler-Up had the opportunity to cut it to 7. Anyway, Nebraska hardly looked a powerhouse in this game, especially given the fact they were at home. They looked very beatable as well as highly sluggish, and they are a flawed team with or without Abdullah, but still, they rightfully deserve to be considered one of the favorites in the West.

If Abdullah is out for the season, Wisconsin becomes the favorite to win the West. Still not totally on board with Iowa, and clearly Hawkeyes are Gophers' best opportunity for another W down the stretch.

Do that and it would be really cool to be legitimately in the hunt for a division title in mid November with OSU coming to town, especially if OSU loses to Sparty. OSU could be down in the dumpers if they lose that one, thus all national and conference title hopes dashed.

Another thing that we could have going for us that isnt being talked about is the weather factor. That mid-november game versus OSU could be very, very cold. Nothing like being 25 degress at kickoff to slow down the Buckeyes offense

good. beating mtsu a mid tier mw team and directional illinois is fine but a mid level big ten team should be able to do that and doing that doesn't say much about the team as a whole.

playing good teams in november can tell us something about the gophers.

i have a feeling that the gophers are still a mid-level big ten team in the middle of a long rebuilding process and there are going to continue to be bumps along the way, but that doesn't mean that the gophers can't pull off an upset or two in november. i don't think that would make the gophers anything more that a mid-level big ten team in the middle of a long rebuilding process, but we're talking ball sports not important stuff.

Quit it! Knock it off. The Gophers should be feared by these teams as much as we fear them. This week, these "Debbie Downer" discussions have zero therapeutic affect.

Here is the solution. Imagine the team as the winner the next four weeks. Better?

OSU should have absolutely no chance to be in the final four based on their loss to Virginia Tech who won't even have a .500 record on the year. That one loss is enough to sink them. Plus Sparty will beat them, but still.

There's still a chance if they win the Big Ten and continue to dominate. It would be hard to put in a two loss team ahead of them. They're playing very good football and their loss came early when Barrett was still trying to get things figured out. I bet the committee will take that into account.

I think the Gophers will be more like a 4 to 7 point underdog vs. Iowa. Iowa's overall season is still pretty average.

I love beating teams that think they are on a roll! Go Gophers!

Everyone loves to declare teams out of it way before they are actually out of it.

Rutgers has looked like a dumpster fire the last three weeks. We all know Iowa blows on the road for some weird reason but they looked good yesterday. I think the bye came at a good time team clearly needed to check themselves plus they've had to stew on that illini lisx for two weeks. I would hardly call nebradka's performance dominant

Let's win one.

Anything more is probably fantasizing.

Hope I'm wrong!

One will be tough.

Our defense has the potential to be good enough to keep us competitive on all four games. I don't understand the doom and gloom. Claeys has maybe been firing blanks a bit the past couple of weeks maybe not quite on his game and our guys overall didn't seem to have a lot of fire, but if they can't get fired up for these four games then we'll have an issue but I think we'll be competitive. We're going to have to be able to make the opposing defenses pay for stacking the box we'll see whether we are able to do same.

One man's doom and gloom is another man's realism. The concern is over the fact that we've looked pedestrian against the very worst the Big Ten has to offer. We'll all be happier if we can beat Iowa.

In 2013, Iowa was 4-1 on the road. Wins against Iowa State, Minnesota, Purdue and Nebraska. The only loss was to Ohio State and the game was tied at 24-24 in the 4th quarter.

This season, Iowa is 2-1 on the road with wins against Pittsburgh and Purdue. The lone loss was by a TD on the road to Maryland. Maryland is bowl eligible already.

Iowa crushed Northwestern in Iowa City yesterday.

Not sure how Iowa "blows on the road."
