The KAT trade is complete.

With the Pistons making the playoffs, the pick in the trade with the Knicks is the Pistons first round pick. It was top-13 protected. It should be in the 17-20 range. It is #18 right now.

Walter Clayton Jr., please...we also have the first pick in the 2nd Round from UTA that will command a lot of trade attention because there's no guaranteed contract for a 1st Round talent.

He’s small, older (he’s 2 years older than Shannon) and at best average defensively. At tops he fills the Conley roll playing mostly off ball and can’t really switch defensively to play against bigger guards.

They will be taking a big after they either sign and trade Julius unless they go another route and bring one in pre draft or they go with pass first point guard who’s sizeable. They want the ball in Ants hands.

They said the same thing about Steph Curry. 😉

What you expect to happen is logical but you can't teach the "clutch" gene and this kid has it in spades. We'll see how well he stacks up tonight against the athletic defenders for HOU.

If he’s still there in the second round it’sa for sure. Reminds of like a Payton Pritchard more than a Steph (the Steph motor to get open from the first to fourth is unmatched). I think he’s an nba player for sure and think he’s a good role guy, which you can certainly do worse for late in the first. Just think there are bigger needs with the glut of guards unless they’ve given up on Clark Shannon and Dilly already

Yeah...it's likely the Wolves will target a big guy like a Wolf or Sorber to add some depth, especially since we have no clue yet what will become of Randle and Naz.

If they can still nab WCJ at 31, that would be a home run but I'm starting to think he'll never make it past 20.

Agreed. Someone is going to either overreach and look silly or look wise but he’s now a discussion in the tweens when pre ncaas he was a second round pick

This also gives us more flexibility to make a move this offseason (Kevin Durant pipe dream maybe?)

i don't think they want to sell out to take on KDs $54mil contract. would space the floor much better for Ant and give you another weapon late shot clock but he's also 37 next year and won't be playing a full season (and hasn't for like 7 years)

Adding KD would certainly be a "sexy" move and it would be a ton of fun watching him play with Ant. The media would eat it up.

With that said, the cost to acquire him would be steep even at this point and potentially crush our depth. My guess is the offer would need to be something similar to:

Randle or Reid ($25M/year S&T)
McDaniels
DET 1st

That works salary-wise but a lot of maneuvering would need to be made to skirt Apron restrictions. Even if it was Randle instead of Reid in the deal, the trade might prevent us from re-signing both Naz and/or NAW.

It's certainly a fun talker, though.
