Somehow, after an 11-1 start that included wins over likely NCAA Tournament teams North Carolina and West Virginia, the Gophers have managed to work themselves from safely in the NCAA Tournament field to the wrong side of the dreaded bubble. The question now is, in their remaining six regular-season games (plus the Big Ten Tournament) can they play their way back into the Field of 68? Quite honestly, I'm skeptical, but we'll start getting our answer Sunday night when the Gophers travel to Iowa City to play the new and improved Iowa Hawkeyes.

good stuff ss. thanks for doing this so often.

i hate that we're in this position again. just once i'd love to see an injury free, roster movement free season to see what the tubster can do.

beat iowa please.

Ditto. I get the feeling Gopher basketball's niche in the college basketball scheme of things is the bubble, a "fatal attraction" so to speak. Wouldn't it be nice to have another season like 1996-97 (stating the obvious), or even 1993-94 (Voshon's best team), when there was no perspiration involved on Selection Sunday whatsoever?

Yeah, no doubt. Both of the last couple years looked promising, but this one especially looked legit after Puerto Rico, and even after Devoe left, we pulled off the Purdue win, but then when Al went down, we were screwed, unfortunately, and destined for the bubble. I hold out hope this team can rally, but it's gonna be tough. Trying to execute an offense without a point guard in a league where defense is actually paid attention to is not easy in the least, and we're seeing that right now.
