Taylor Martinez will make things interesting for the Gophers for three years - and he's the real deal: quick as a cat as a runner, then accelerates even more; a good passer, and a real field general with confidence - unusual for one so young. How come we never get guys like this? Nebraska lucked out, like Iowa, by finding a first rate coach who built a winning program into a dynasty - from '62 through '97 they had only two coaches, while we had seven.

Because they have a A.D. who knows what it takes to be a successful coach. Maturi could have brought in Pelini just as Osborne did but neglected to do so.
