Absolutely abhorrent. And I thought it was just six athletes who were involved. Definitely mass expulsions, suspensions, and probations are in order. I changed my mind now that the truth be told.
NCAA sanctions now a possibility.
Could this have happened under Jerry Kill? It appeared that he had more control over his players than Claeys. Good luck to recruiting and to whoever will be the next coach.
How common is this in other campuses? I know that some football players fathered children from multiple women. Is this culture prevalent across Div. 1 College Football?
Time for the U to clean house and put a tight rein on all student athletes.
Glad I took the stance I did earlier which was to applaud the EOAA. Get these scumbags out of the U and do it Yesterday.
This would never happen under Kill, he had the players respect. This is what happens when the U hands the keys over to a guy who should never be a head coach and has no control.
As a lifelong Gopher supporter I am really pissed off.

It appears that Claeys was not aware of this 85-page report when he backed his players. He was blind-sided.
Not only will the BOA probably cancel the bowl trip, there will be another layer of through investigation.
Could this lead to the firing of Tracey Claeys for lack of institutional control? Jerry Kill got the respect of the players. Not Tracey Claeys.
The players involved face expulsions and suspensions. This is the death nail of this current set of coaches.
Time to clean house. NCAA sanctions and possibly criminal prosecution for sex with a recruit who is a minor. Who will be criminally liable?
I don't care how talented these players are. They don't represent the core values of the U.
What actions in this report lead you to believe this was approved by or allowed to happen by the current coaches? And i'm serious in that question, because what you are suggesting is either 1. They knew about these activities and ignored them. or 2. They should have full accountability for 100% of the actions of any student who attends the U and plays football.
I'm not trying to defend anyone in this, i think the players who participate should be gone. I think the coaches have a lot of soul searching to do in how they recurit and how they try to find the right players for the program. But, struggling here to see why a coach should be watching a player in a private residence at 1:30 in the morning at all times.
I don't think Claeys backed the kids for this issue, I think Claeys backs the kid for standing up for a cause. People instantly assumes he means this boycott, but I just think he meant in general. With that said, Claeys is lacking control... His players can do whatever they want after a football game? Nobody checking in on them? A recruit being in town and none of the coaches are making sure the recruit is taken care of? Bye Claeys!
I understand where you're trying to go, but one could then argue a parent should then be checking in on their student at the University as well and if a student were to commit a crime the parent was culpable. You're 18+ years old, legally you're responsible for yourself and your actions. Should these guys get extra attention, probably...but i disagree with checking in at 1:30 am to make sure all players are tucked in for the night.
But most parents aren't around these kids every day. I mean sure, Claeys can't be around them 24/7, but maybe he should appoint some captains or group leaders to look out for each other. I don't know, all I know is this shouldn't happen and I'm not even in the camp of these kids being guilty or not, I'm just saying these situations should never occur if you run a good program.
My God, this is absolutely disgusting.
I took the sides of the players last night solely on the basis that the cops didn't even bring charges...but WTF? how is that possible after this report?
Now I feel like a huge ass.
Heads need to roll and people need to go to jail over this, or at the very least be put on the sex offender list
The sheer number of people involved necessitates something like an SMU death penalty, IMO.
On a lighter note, this Ebonics lesson is very informative.
Kill had players committing sexual harassment, assault, and intimidating victims. Of course it would have happened under Kill too, he didn't seem to care about issues like this any more than Claeys does. Just not as important and football.
