Defense, defense, defense. The hardest thing to recruit for, especially when you're at the middle/end of the gravy train.
It's often said that the difference between the elites and the middle of the road teams is on the lines. Watching N. Illinois, I have little doubt that their skill players are on par with almost any middle BCS school. The challenge will be on the lines. I have little doubt, given our location, that we will be able to recruit an adequate offensive line, but what about D? Can he do what Gutey, Wacker, Mason (outside of '99) and Brew couldn't?
I like what Kill said about having 2 difference makers on D and building a well coached, disciplined defense around them. I think that's basically what Iowa's D is every year. But can he do it?
