The News from San Jose

For all of those in the area, if you don't like the tv announcers, then go to the game. I have a friend that is flying in from Az. just to go to the game, so yes it does happen.

Well, there is the radio too. Or the option of watching the game muted.

I've said before that I would pay good money for a separate audio stream from games with no commentators, no reporting, just the game and the ambient crowd noise, as would be heard if you were sitting there in person. Parabolic field mics would be a great addition too, with unsensored game sounds, but one step at a time here.

Oh, and Ice - thanks for posting that article on Neil Parry, that was a nice read.

Does anyone know where I can listen to the game up at Battle Lake/Ottertail area? Pls help. Tks in advance.....I might be forced to listen to them........Crap

I'd watch at The Otter or Willy T's in Ottertail. Willy T's may not have HD though.

San Jose Story on Kill

Kill hasn't followed much of what's been said in the aftermath of his latest seizure, but he is grateful for the support he's received from Teague and the university.

"They've showed that support, and I'm very appreciative of it," Kill said. "Part of this that's sometimes forgotten is this game's about the players, not the coach. I appreciate that support, it gives me a lot more time to concentrate on what's important and that's the players."

Part of Kill's business-as-usual approach stems from the fact that, in many ways, this is business as usual for him. He's dealt with enough of these episodes, as have his assistant coaches, that they know how to handle it.

Defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys has been on Kill's staff at various stops since 1995, and offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover has worked with Kill since 1999. So when Kill spent the second half of Saturday's 29-12 win over Western Illinois in the hospital, the Gophers didn't miss a beat.

"When you work with people for extensive lengths of time like that, you really get to know how they think," San Jose State coach Ron Caragher said. "I'm sure they missed Coach, but they carried on as if knowing how he operates."

Kill said it comes down to teaching his players and trusting that they'll know what to do.

"I'm very proud of our players and our coaching staff for the job they did in the game in the second half," Kill said. "Through good preparation, they continue to do well and that shows you this game is a heckuva lot more important than one person."

Coach's Corner Week 3: Spartans ready for nationally televised Big Ten Showdown
..

"I feel confident in our plan of attack and how we prepared and how we spent the bye week,” Caragher said.

The Spartans might need that focus as Minnesota is 27th in the nation in points per game (41.3) and 23th in rushing yards per game (258.7), according to SJSU Athletics.

Playing an undefeated team from the Big Ten Conference is a big test and should be a great barometer for the Spartans' level of play as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Mountain West Conference.

Big, physical, strong team, power-run game and good play-action were all words used to describe the Golden Gophers on offense.

The Minnesota defensive line may be the biggest the Spartans' offensive line will face all season as three out of four linemen are 6-foot-5 or taller, with dominating nose tackle Ra’Shede Hagerman being a big concern for Caragher.

“They do a good job putting pressure on the quarterback, they can do it with a four-man rush because they have athletic end
s,” Caragher said.

And if you live in the area, have season tickets, but also volunteered to coach two sons in football, and those games start between 9 and noon every Saturday...well...watching it on DVR is your option, and you can mute it, like I will.
