Check the mortality demographic, over half of the deceased would be dead in 18 months anyway from their co-morbidities. A real pandemic would kill all age groups.

To an extent I agree but these are mostly Fox News talking points. U.S. suicide rates were at an all-time high in 2019 and are probably up a bit more during the pandemic. People dying at home from heart attacks, strokes, and the like? Probably has happened but it does not compare to the carnage from Covid-19. Handling the initial outbreak properly would have nipped most of it in the bud.

The average stay in a nursing home is 835 days, according to the National Care Planning Council.
