The NCAA is considering allowing five years of eligibility for players in all sports moving forward, per an NCAA official.

I like the traditional 4 years of eligibility unless an athlete is redshirted or injured. Five years of eligibility just fuels the transfer portal. Athletes can graduate in four years and sell their services in a so-called graduate year to whoever has the best offer. I question the value of some of the graduate programs that athletes take up for a short term. In addition, five years of eligibility fosters athletes transferring 2-3+ times because they have more time to satisfy pre-requisites and requirements (Ha, if any) at each school. The NCAA must think that they will produce a better product and make more money.

Took you awhile to get to it but you know the reason.
