The look of Glen Mason

You said he'll be fired after this year. Ergo, he won't be on a 2-year contract.

Right, he'll either be fired after this year or be on a 2 year contract after this year. What is so difficult to understand?

You said he'll be fired or extended after this year. In neither circumstance will he be on a 2-year contract. Want to quit while you're way, way behind? Or should we keep going?

I said he'll have to be either fired or extended after this year otherwise he'll be on a 2 year contract, which very few college coach on....several posts ago. You're the one who's way behind.

You have quickly become the most dilusion, irrational, out of touch, and annoying poster on this site - and that includes me. Congrats.

How am I delusional? All I said in this thread is that Mason beat a top 21 team and finished ranked. Both of those things happened in Mason's 3rd year, and both were more than Kill or Claeys has accomplished.

I also said there is almost no chance that Claeys will be allowed to coach on a 2 year contract next year. That means he'll either have to be extended, or fired at the end of this season. Right now there's a far better chance he'll be let go.

These are delusional, irrational thoughts?

What upset me the most was the playcalling when we had the ball in field goal range late, and then when Penn State had the ball with 54 seconds left. Instead of trying to go out there and win the game, it seemed like we were perfectly happy to pathetically sit back and hope it didn't slip away before the clock ran out. The end of the game was cowardly coached, and the staff got the result they deserved.

I have no issue with taking the FG. Claeys sees the issues with out D and figured making them use their TOs and taking as much time off the clock was best. They couldn't stop PSU from driving in :54 - if they had more time they would have scored a TD.

The other option was give the ball to ML7 who had just thrown an INT and was under heavy pressure when he dropped back. I guarantee if we passed on 3rd and it didn't work that we would be questioning things more. Rightfully so, IMO.

Leidner is a fifth year senior and multi-year starter. If we can't trust him to roll out, analyze the situation, throw if it is there, and run and make them burn their timeout that way if it isn't, then we have a major QB development problem. I would trust Leidner's decision making there.

I would have liked to see us at least try to get the first on 3rd down.

Yes. I said in the game thread at the time...we may have gained 40 seconds, but we also may have lost the game.

If you can't go for the aggressive play to win with a senior quarterback, when can you?

The guy who goes for 2 up 7 doesn't try for the first down? It makes no sense

Fair enough. At that moment in that game I was fine with the decision. I can see both sides of the coin tho.

understatement of the year kill/claeys era

Don't lump Claeys into that yet. Kill sure did have a QB development issue - But Claeys was a DC in that time and the first thing he did when hired as HC was to fire the OC and QB coach. Sounds like TC would agree with you yet you still blame him in part for ML7's and our team's lack of development at QB? That makes absolutely zero sense.

aight man i can dig it - im on record saying i think seth/demry whoever emerges will be a much better player than mitch and i think jj obviously deserves a chance to show what he can do. feels good to agree with me right man we arent so different you and me

This is taking a different direction than I thought my comment would lead us. My opinion is that Mitch was good enough to be trusted in that situation, and that I was disappointed in the coach's lack of faith in him. Not that we need to develop someone better who we can trust in that situation.
