Camera panned to Claeys during Penn States final drive. There he was looking up at the clock, grimacing, chewing his gum hoping he could somehow hang on.

He looked just like Glen.

Same result.

We all knew we'd lose that game when it appeared we were happy to kick a field goal and hope to hang on.

My garage and basement are going to be really freaking clean next weekend. My kids will have fun going to the park as well.

Kicking the FG was the right decision. You need the stop them from going down the field in 50 seconds.

True, but did you have any faith we'd do so? I sure didn't. I was almost surprised we kept them to a field goal...

The issue was the defensive calls in the last 50 seconds. Sawvel has called the wrong plays time and time again this year.

I would have liked to see us at least try to get the first on 3rd down.

Yup. We didn't try to get the first down. We didn't play aggressively to stop them. We grimaced, looked up at the clock, and hoped to hang on. It was Glen.

This :banghead:

And a fifth year senior throwing an int in the end zone ,absolutely unexpetable...

Should have put better effort to get another 1st down. 50 seconds is forever when clock stops on first downs.

The key difference is that the defense is supposed to be the strength of this team. Mason relying on the D was foolish. It shouldn't be now. But they let us down.

this. a million effin times this. You have a rs SR qb. you trust him to make a good decision, if it's not there he eats it and you kick with same result. Just baffling with how little pressure we'd been getting. Silly. play to win, not survive

he's been poor. But also our pass rush has been non-existant when we aren't blitzing. hard to say why but guys are not beating one on one blocks

Mason beat Two good Penn State teams twice and lost one in Happy Valley due to a horrible official call. He would've trashed this Penn State team.

Unfortunately, he'd then have lost to Toledo the next week...

So you're not going to watch the game next weekend? Boo-hoo. Good riddance. We don't need you.

He went 32-48 in the Big Ten. Yet some people act like he would have thrashed everyone we play now.

He wouldn't but overall he was still better than Kill/Claeys.

Based on what? Mason and Kill had the exact same winning percentage in the Big Ten, even though Mason had an extra 5+ years to install his program and recruit his own guys.

Mason could beat a team ranked higher than 21 and finish in the top 25.

Kill had 4+ years to Mason's 10. Claeys has coached 6 Big Ten games total. Way to compare apples to apples.

Kill coached 35 Big Ten games and finished 14-21. In his first 35 Big Ten games, Mason was 12-23.

Claeys has coached 6 Big Ten games and is 1-5. Mason was 0-6 in his first 6 Big Ten games.

Looks like they're both better than Mason.

This coaching staff has recruited these players for the last 6 years. You can't compare it to Mason's first 6 games where he wasn't coaching players he recruited. Sorry.

Wrong. The previous coaching staff, which was 33% different than the current staff, recruited almost all of these players. Claeys has been the head coach for exactly 6 Big Ten games. Sorry.

I can't wait to hear your whining when Claeys is the head coach next year.

There won't be any whining. It's obvious this team will finish in the lower half of the B1G West. That will be enough for Coyle to move in another direction.

So you're not going to whine when Claeys is the head coach next year? That's what's going to happen.

Less than 5% chance Claeys is the coach next year. Book it.

How many football coaches are coaching on 2 year contracts? Very few, if any. Claeys will either have to be extended or fired at the end of the season. With the way this team looks, chances are slim to none that he'll be extended.

Mason recruited to the metrodome......

Brew/Kill/Claeys recruited to a still pretty shiny on campus beaut..

Hey...people keep bringing up the loser proposition of "can't we get back to Mason levels".

We did it kids! Doesn't it feel great?

Floyd comes home next week, and all will be better.

Claeys isn't on a 2 year contract.
