This stat from the World Herald surprised me. I would have thought it was much more recent than that, but I guess the really big wins we've had over the years (at Penn State with the Nystrom kick, at Michigan with the Lohmiller kick, etc.) were all on the road.

Per the Omaha World Herald:

So is an upset coming?

If it happens, that standing-room crowd should give Minnesota a standing ovation. The last time the Gophers beat a top-10 opponent at home was 38 years ago — 16-0 over No. 1 Michigan in 1977.

Go Gophers!!

Purdue 2005 just missed the cut - they were #11.

Still, it has been too long.

Well, we finally won the Jug again...let's do this too!

MN has been in such a long drought that it is so impressive to see historic wins and stats. Before Kill, there were only 3 eight plus win seasons in the last 50 years. He's led the Gophers to back to back eight win seasons. If he does it this season, it will be the first time in over 100 years that MN had 3 straight.

Keep making history!

My family had tickets to the game in 1977 against Michigan. I gave my ticket to my brothers friend so I could go to a Hamline game with a friend of mine! Biggest mistake next to not buying Google back in the day!

This TCU game seems winnable compared to that Michigan game. I went to the game and as a young man I had the naive opinion that we could/would win the game. All I heard during the week was how the Gophers were destined to lose 52-0. This team has a better defense than the 1977 team IMO. They were good, but were not loaded with NFL level kids like this team.
